how to: power steering 56 f100

    hello, a friend of mine is building a 56 f100. he is using the stock front end and wandering about power steering. anyone try to mate a newer power steering box to stock front end? thanks and pics would be nice if you have them.

    '99-'04 Jeep Grand Cherokee box should fit pretty nice.

    Here's one bolted into a '55 Ford passenger car.

    i was thinking toyota 4x4 but wasnt for sure it would work. i know about steering column issues. wasnt sure about pitman arm or drag link.

    I did mine on the cheap! Used toyota 4x4 box $150.00- Used chevy p/s pump-new p/s hoses that fit toyota box reflared other end to fit gm pump.
    Made my own bracket to mount box and cut the two pitman arms into beveled and welded together. Drove that truck everywhere. David

    Have any trouble with the welded pitman arm??

    No problems and the Toyota box fit in the same location and is really not much bigger than the stock box. With the pitman arm in the same place it looks and works like ford had planned it.

    thanks for input. will check on toyota box. what about pump? he is running 272 y block. i am sure he will have to fab brackets. what pump works best?

    o.k. hes buying a toyota kit and used box now trying to figure out crank pulley. needs a double pulley that fits y block.

    got the kit works great still need crank pulley cheap under $125.00 any ideas? thanks

    The crank pulleys are on eBay all the time, that is where I got mine
