And another thing after the funds are sent to PP immediately send them to your bank, from the bank to your pocket. Don't let PP funds sit in PP and build up unless you plane on buying/paying with it soon...........

We have shipped a lot of parts overseas and used Paypal with no problems. It does have to go to the verified address that comes with the Paypal payment. As stated before have him send payment as a gift and then you can ship it anywhere, with no worries at all. You will get your money in just a matter of seconds, when he pays.

You might want to set up an account @ your bank that you only use for PP transactions, so if there's a dispute there's only a certain amount of money in your account @ the Bank.

Real simple solution to this. If he's got someone in Ontario who'll receive the stuff from you and load it onto his container, just tell him you'll take it there and he can paypal the money to that party so they can pay you on delivery.

Paypal works fine if you follow their procedures to the letter. But part of that procedure is shipping the goods ONLY to the address that's ***ociated with the buyer's account. Ship it anywhere else, and it doesn't matter if you've got a delivery receipt signed by God and Obama, you ain't gonna get your money if the buyer claims he didn't get the goods.

If he's legit, he'll have no problem with letting his US contact pay you on delivery. If he's got a problem with that, he's trying to scam you. And the fact that he may have a shop in Oz ain't got any bearing whatsoever on whether he's honest or not.

I did well over 200 sale transactions, nearly $20K, last year using PayPal. If you set it up correctly and use your good sense it works very well indeed.

  8. Bang on mate! It's hard to get parts down here for most projects and yes,we do get shafted on shipping costs but we also have to trust in the fact that if we use Paypal for a purchase that the seller won't just take the funds out and not send the item.I have purchased many items off off fellow hamb members and have had them sent to Oz with no dramas at all.I have also had to ship items to a 3rd party in Cal so they can forward them on as the shipping would make it impactical cost wise to ship direct.
There will always be ****holes on both sides waiting to shaft someone but as stated before paypal is instant and once you have the funds out of your account and in your hands then it becomes the buyer who has to trust the seller to do the right thing.Remember,There is only an small amount ****holes out there opposed to alot of good people.
PS.when buying a less expensive item it is also not practical to do money orders or bank cheques from here as the costs to purchase them then mail just blows it out of reality cost wise.
    Happy Daze.

Still sounds like this guy is trying to scam you. Extra money, that just doesn't happen in the real world. Make him contact you by phone and tell him he can send the money to his yard and they can pay you cash on delivery. Sounds just to much like a screw job. You still haven't said how high or low dollar amount you are risking. You asked how Pay-Pal can screw you. There is a fake Pay-Pal site,a fake E-Bay site and a fake Western Union Money gram site on the internet. Cover your own ***.

so the dude is offering you a little more $$ ? maybe that is to cover your cost for accepting a paypal transaction, you know how those paypal guys like to charge a few % here and a few more over there at both the buyers and the sellers side of every deal. i have done that myself on a few deals, thrown in a few extra bucks just to smooth the deal over. cheers....

Get this..... I recently sold a pair of Edmunds Custom flathead heads to a guy in Brazil. He bought them on ebay and paid for them through paypal. Two weeks later after I shipped them I get an email from the guy stating that he received the box but I sent him the wrong items. He says that I sent him a stock Ford steel flathead head and a couple little random pieces. This guy was such a scammer it still makes me sick. So next thing I know, he files a claim on PayPal stating I sent the wrong items, (which I did not!) PayPal reviewed the case and sided with the buyer.....So what the guy did was take my two Edmunds heads out of the box that I sent him, put a stock steel head and a couple random parts, (so the weight was similar) and sent PayPal the pictures. So im out nearly $500, because they refunded him the money that was in my account. Makes me so mad, just typing this....PayPal sides with the buyer 90% of the time when a case is opened. I do not like PayPal and try to stay away from them as much as I can. They don't protect the seller which is just ludicrous in my opinion. There is a lot of potential scamming that could happen and I know do not sell overseas to anybody unless they have a good track record on eBay or iv delt with the guy on here, the HAMB.

You can open a seperate bank account ,have him do a bank transfer,as soon as the funds clear the bank withdraw them. Your bank can even set it up for you. I was screwed by Pay-Pal as other sellers have been to and will never use them no matter large or small amount.

  15. Sorry to hear this Mike,I only use a debit card to deal with Paypal and keep no money at all in my account unless I am going to make a purchase.
As soon as you are paid, take the funds out and then and only then send the goods. As I said before there are a few ****holes out there causing grief for the genuine buyres/sellers.

Paypal is evil. they do not give a **** about you or your problems as either a buyer or a seller. they care only about paypals bottom line.

any transaction without online viewable proof of DELIVERY can easily end up in an item not recieved case and the shipper will lose every time.

if you don't know about paypal you don't want this to be the one you learn on.

every shipment is a roll of the dice. you just have to know that going in and hope the odds end in your favor.

sold a ****load on ebay before they started to ****. only had one guy rip me off for a $100.00 pen. I wouldn't sell anything expensive using paypal. maybe $200.00 max.

i sold an engine to a guy in united arabs emirate, and he sent me money through western union. he set it up on his end, gave me a number to use, and all i did was give w.u. the number and they gave me cash. he even gave me more and said to take the family out to eat. i sent him the engine, and several weeks later, he contacted me and said he received it. everything went great. there has to be trust and honesty on both ends. as for paypal, i've only had one problem. a guy on "the bay" tried to f@#k me over, and it didn't work. took a couple weeks, and had me scared, but paypal believed my side of the story over his. honesty can prevail if commonsense is present.

this is the way to go right here. just find a free checking bank and do this or open a separate checking account just for this kind of stuff at your regular bank. this is what i did. i used it when i sold a car over seas to Australia

Doesn't all the buyer protection stuff only pertain if the transaction in question was completed on ebay?

I have sold a few things on ebay and the paypal fees are around 4%. I have also listed the item as shipping ups. Two sales went to australia and both buyers asked if I would send it usps instead and they offered to pay a little extra if it inconvenienced me.

I have taken deposits on car sales via papal but the balances I made the buyer do a bank wire transfer to avoid the 4% fees.

Since he is willing to work with you have him do a bank wire transfer, there is no way you can lose in that situation.

I just talked to a HAMB member from down under that told me that he just talked to this guy yesterday and bought parts and he says that this guy is cooll

  28. Pay pal him money as a personal gift. Way better in service fees, but insurance if the parts don't come.

  29. I have done business with the guys in Ontario. They are very legitimate. They are behind a tow yard. I don't know about your buyer, But the shipping guys are straight up. They send out quite a few containers.

I use it as a buyer and have never had any issues, and yes we are p***ionate about our cars. Freight is always the killer, not the part itself. Not sure what it is, weight or size but don't use UPS as freight is exorbitant. USPS, FEDEX, TNT or USPS.
