Ok here goes.... I have been searching the internet for suppliers of Fibergl*** Bodys in particular 32 ford roadsters... but the only thing that seems to be coming up is bodies that are used in HiBoy applications... I did find that Speedway and Rod n Race both have channeled versions of the 32 Roadster... Is there any othe manufacturers out there that anyone knows about that can supplied a fibergl*** 32 body that is designed to be used channeled. Is there anybody out there that has a Speedway 32 Lowboy that has never been finished and would like to sell it.... Even a completed would be taken into consideration if a trade deal could be worked out. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks Rich King
You need to modify the frame for a channeled body to fit . The front door post inside width is too narrow for the frame to fit between. It takes a special/modified frame for the doors to shut right. Speedway uses a special frame. Just something you need to be aware of.
Fully understood.... Plans are to Fabricate my own ch***is.... No intent in using the stock 32 Ch***is.... Thanks for the reply... Rich........
Kilbourne Rod Shop in Kilbourne, Il makes a channeled 32 roadster body and a frame for it. 1309 538 4560
Thanks All.... It looks like My next stop is Kilbourne..... Checked out the website and they look like a quality product.. Rich King
We used a Rod and Race body for this. We got the bodies (we bought 2..one for my bubbletop) right out of the molds and got them cheap. The quality is OK. It was a lot of work to get everything aligned and braced. Kicker is they are under new ownership now and not sure how the gl***work is. The molds are good but it's what you do with the molds that counts. Might be worth it for you to take a trip to Virginia. Clark PS...we built our own frame too.
Here are the links for the guys that Stovebolt suggested ... Duane is the US agent (in Bakersfield) ... http://www.kiwikonnection.org/Index.html And these are the bodies (made in Australia) ... http://www.rodbods.com.au/1932_Roadster_Channeled.htm
Hi Elvis from Rod Bods Downunder hear i dont know if you are still looking for a ch****ed 32 roadster still if you are i build them. I think i am the only builder that has a mould to make chaneled roadsters strate out of its own mould just check out my web page www.rodbod.com.au
Clark..... Thanks for the info on Rod and Race.. I have seen this set up at the Wheels of Time show in Macungie Pa a few years back.... I see the you moved the front spring under the Radiator.... That was one thing that I didnt like when I see the Kit on display... I have a possible deal going on a Rolling Model A Frame soup to nuts... The owner p***ed away and a deal could be in the making.... Maybe I should give R&R a call and see how close their ch***is it to the Model A.... Obviously modifications would be needed.......... Skirtless33.... Kilborne stopped manufacturing the Channeled body... with no indication that they would make a one off........ Rich..........
The body I am using was from Show Me Rod & Custom. http://www.showmerodandcustom.com/shop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=1 They are really highboy or fully fendered applications but we had Doug build it without a proper floor and then cut that out to do the channel. The thing I like about this body is the doors are 2 inches longer and the cabin 2 inches longer which kames it much easier to get in and out. We did a fair amount of work to get it channelled and Warren(builder) built a fabulous floor with a recessed seat area.
I currently have a Pete and Jake Ch***is just about finished up and had all intentions of building a 30 Coupe but I think I want to change horses in the middle of the stream. I would like to use my ch***is and set a 32 Channeled roadster on it... I looked at the Rod n Race body years ago (Before opening doors) and found it very interesting.... The channel seemed to be pretty wide opening with a nice flat floor... Found Rod n Race has moved from Maryland to Ohio.... Looks like the company was bought out.... I requested info and explained my Idea to them and hopefully I will get some kind of response.... Rich........ PS to CLARK - The 2 bodies that you bought look like the floor is cut out... Did you buy them less floor? Do you have photos of your ch***is... I would like to see them. I have a couple of photos of my ch***is.... I will try to get them up on the thread this week.....
Obviously Channeling a 32 Body on a 32 Frame is a bit of a Fit problem..... I have a chance to pick up a complete pete and jake model A ch***is... This is a steal on my end as the ch***is is only lacking the body.... Seeing that the Model a ch***is is considerably narrower than the 32 I would suspect that the 32 Body on the A ch***is would a much easier build... I have done multiple searches on the HAMB but cant seem to find anybody that is doing or has done a 32 Body on a Model A Ch***is... Back tracking manufactures of Channeled body all seem to offer their own ch***is for the 32 fords.... Obviously they have a problem clearing the ch***is with the body.. One other thing that comes to mind is the substantial savings in the frame when building a Model A ch***is as opposed to the 32 Ch***is...... Anybody else out there have any thoughts on this..... Rich
The following photo's were taken of the ch***is about 6 months ago and are outdated at the ch***is is now in a roller state...... No expense spared on Chrome and Stainless... Rich
