Thanks for the comments - Carey deserves them... for a while it felt like I've been posting myself... and, since I'm getting PM's with technical questions - I ***ume there's a lot of folks like me who brouse the first couple of pages and then skip to the end of the thread... My impatience started as a kid and hasn't left -are we there yet? So... I would like to highlight the build and save everyone from looking through the and for the credits...

The project started as a body... everyone ***umes a pre-47 build... reversed firewall, doors closed, sub-rail's intact, narrow frame slots in rear panel, channeled 6" ( radius rods thru the door)... the thread started as reaserch to find its history... INFO still needed...

Current build... Z'd Es*** frame rails w/ Model A front & Model T rear cross members... full three point suspension system, 39 Zepher trans, Thunderbird 312 w/ 56 Cad dual-fours... Whippet grill shell & earlier T turtle deck

95" inch wheelbase... 36" to top of door (think 30" on the original build)

Credits: Ch***is - Bill Metz, Tubing - Hensel's Gearage, final fabrication - Carey Gaynor (CareyOhio), body - I wish I knew!

My name is Thom and I'm just the design guy & owner trying to build a pre 47 ride that has an upgraded 57 motor... I'm 6" and I've made it comfy for my size... or, Bugs since windsceen is just a wind relector... thanks again for your time and any leads on the body will be appreciated

<style type="text/css"> <!-- @page { margin: 0.79in } P { margin-bottom: 0.08in } --></style>Thom, It's nice to see the T finally done (fabrication work). It's come a long way from the first time I seen it in Phoenix. I can't wait to see it on the road, I will need a ride in this one. Have you decided on pipes for it yet?

Carey, Fantastic craftsmanship on the T. I love the detail and fabrication work you've done. Glad Thom posted the pictures, most people won't know the amount of work that went into to making it what it is today. Good job!

Thom, Carey and you have one magnificent Hot Rod there. I am sorry that the history of the body is still unknown. But, like you said now you will be making the history for this car. It is a double threat or maybe triple threat Hot Rod now. Looking forward to the build of the belly pan. I will be building one for my Hill Climb Special. Wish me luck on this one !

The detachable tube belly pan frame shown below has a louvered skin welded in with removable side panels...

Following the idea of being able to field dress the car depending on the type of racing it was involved with...
belly pan for the salt & no pan for the dirt... lose the wieght for the drags

I'm only taking the body... It will be used for kids to sit in and get the feel on an old hot rod... pictures will be taken and a print provided with a donation to "save the salt"

Gotta keep the torch burning for the next gen of hot rodders... car shows are a lot of look but don't touch so this should prove interesting

I will be taking the body to Detroit Autorama... It will be an interactive display allowing youngsters a chance to sit in the car for a photo op and visualize what an ol racer would be like... Additionally it will be a collection point for "Save the Salt" and along with a flyer (provided by SEMA) stating the need for involvement to preserve the salt flats, I thought a business card might be be handy... since I've never done anything like this - I would appreciate any input before I order cards

    The proof of the front

With the back highlighting the intent and disclaimer

The intent of this project is to give the next generation of car enthusiasts a break from the "look but don't touch" environment of the Autorama, and let them experience what it’s like to get behind the wheel of a vintage racer. This type of car was the humble beginning of motorsports as we know it today, and they can drive as fast as their imagination will take them. This is not a commercial venture, just a hobbyist trying to provide a "hands on" exposure to hot rodding. Each driver (or parent/guardian) will be asked to fill out a liability waiver and photo release (if photo is being taken). A print of your photo may be provided with a donation to "Save the Salt."

Disclaimer: Participants are responsible to evaluate and take ***umption of risk. The Detroit Autorama, Save the Salt Foundation, and the owner of the vehicle do not ***ume any liability.

  15. I did that with my old t, the kids got a kick out of it. Hopefully made an impression on a few. :)

Good on ya for giving back and i've gotta say that is the coolest T i have ever seen.

    Cheers

While hunting for some photos for Autorama, I ran across these shots that I thought were lost when my hard drive took a dump... this will answer some earlier questions about the roll pan...

Body off, platform & kiddie step built, ready to load for Detroit Autorama... it would have been easier to take the whole car... but, this is more child proof... and thats the idea... I hope they enjoy it and make some memories... If ya get a chance stop by and donate to "Save the Salt" and/or sign up for the "SEMA Action Network"

We have been active... But, I haven't posted in awhile... I'm over six foot and the area is small... we added to the seat area to accommodate an original WWII bomber cushion... we redid the clutch & brake ***embly... we devised a mechanical brake lever by the torque tube since the right leg doesn't p*** under the steering wheel easily... we added on to the floor to close off any flying objects that p*** through wishbone opening in the belly pan... as in the past, I do***ented step-by-step and will eventually get updates posted... Good to know the project hasn't been forgotten!
