It's hard to beleive how popular the 57-60 Ford F-100 are getting. I drop allot of axles for them anymore. I'm hoping to have my 60 big back window dropped soon.

  7. It's Alive!! :) congrats.

  8. Thanks jon. Im not sure if I want to get this one up and running or just sell or part it out. I have lagged on my 56 mainline for too many years.

  9. I don't think it would take long to get this thing up and going. Just get it running good and shoot some primer. Everyone needs a parts hauler/ And the 56 has waited this long ;)

  10. You are right on thatn there is one thing that has me stumped on this project and its the trans cooler. It has water lines going from the block of the motor to this canister on the side of the trans. Do I just take thatvset up off the old motor and install it on the new motor? Or do I have to buy a whole new kit?

  11. I haven't had much experience with that but I would think you could just transfer it over.
BTW, if you need some inspiration to keep you fresh on this just ask..

  12. I need to figure out the cooler. Yes!!! Some inspiration jon! Lol

  18. Ok well I would like to get the motor and trans back into the truck either this weekend or mid week. I need to figure out if I can and should use the old trans with the cooler on the side with the hard lines going into the block of the motor? Or what should be done?

  19. I want to start this soon so I candrive it. Any help or info on this would be a huge help. thanks

I own two factory ford-o-matic trucks, which transmission are you running? The original from the truck or the new motor?

The one from the truck is a water cooled three speed. The one shown from the other engine appears to be a air cooled(some 1956 trucks had a hybrid setup.)

I would stick with the one from the truck, assuming it shifted ok before being removed. Reuse the cooler and all the lines. They are a very tough trans from my experience. I have lots of photos of linkages incase there is any questions.

  23. 56, I had the same set up on the fordamatic on my '60. I removed that contraption, plugged the holes in the block and ran lines from the tranny to the cooler on my radiator.

  24. So you are saying to stay with the fluid cooled trans?

  25. Harvard can you please post some pics?

Does your radiator have two ports for a trans cooler? If it does you can run the trans lines right to them as mr.harvard spoke of, or if you have a original type of radiator, just reuse the the cooler, mine are both original to the trucks and never had any leaks or fluid mixing.

  27. No I dont have those ports. Should I just use the original cooler and that trans? Or the other air cooled trans?

  28. ok I am going to try and load these pics

  29. well for some reason wont let me load pics
