Way out of my price range but would this be factory built?? http://saskatchewan.kijiji.ca/c-car...4-SPEED-STANDARD-VERY-RARE-W0QQAdIdZ352085499
Sure. And the ad is right...not a whole lot of 'em made. The price can't be right, though...at least not in my world.
Nice ride but to rich for my blood , it's his asking price he can ask whatever he likes , what he gets? Who knows..
I would love to own that. In 1972. I purchased a 1966 Buick Riv. It had 2 four barrels and a 4 speed. I have never seen another. I looked the car over closely before I purchased it ( not that I cared if it was factory). If it was not factory, Someone put in some work to make it look like it was.
In that era you could order almost any combination that you would pay for- I remember a 327/4 speed 66 chevy full size station wagon a customer had when I worked at an Esso station in high school.
In 1966 I was an apprentice mech. My first car to work on was a 1966 Pontiac statuon wagon with a 421 CI engine with a 4 speed transmission. That was the only one I ever seen.
From the sixties on, Buick only offered manual trans in Wildcats and Skylarks. But like the others said, if you had the $$$ and knowledge, you could get anything.... My 2ct.
I remember seeing a 66 Chevy station wagon with a 396 and a 4-speed. Sombody said bull- the reply was the old guy had a bunch of kids and wanted a car that would pull a camper in the moutains. Factory ordered.
Sure I had a 66 Impala SS with a 327, 3 speed on the tree and a bench seat! It was ordered by an old lady, who hated a bucket seats! At least thats what I was told...turned out to be an orginal 6 cyl car...with an auto trans LOL Funny thing was I didn't really care! I'm sure he thought he pulled on over on me...well I'd say when he tried to sell that 87 firebird that he traded me he didn't exactly make out!
Its legit (imate)...he did alot of research on the AACA forum earlier in the year...man, there are a bunch of beatches on that forum...and I thought this place was crotchedy
It is pricey, but its about right for somebody whos in the market for one. Id love to have it in my garage parked next to my 66 Wildcat till spring.
I would guess it's legit. My VIN guide for '63 Buicks shows the only large cars with manual transmission was the LeSabre. Of course the brouchure says otherwise (not that they are always correct). I think you would need a lot of do***entation to make sure you're getting what you're paying for.
That's strikes me as odd as I've seen more than 6 4 speed wildcats myself, I wonder what combo of options got him the 1 of 4 or 1 of 6 number.
Nice car. I like these unique machines. I had an new but O/T 71 Firebird Formula 400 with buckets but the turbo 400 was column shifted. Never saw another one like it.
I have seen some oddities, '67 Camaro ragtop, 6 cyl, PG, column shift, '66 Caddy ragtop with 4 speed (special order, caddy had manual trans available in commerical ch***is until late '70's IIRC), '69 Chevy top of line wagon with 427 and 4 speed, there is also a BBC/ 4 speed (IIRC) in Floyd Garrett's musclecar museum in Sevierville, Tn., I had a '73 AMC Hornet Sportabout wagon (G3 green w/ gold trim), ordered with all goodies new by me, 304 & torqueflite, swapped to 401 at dealership (Ray Jacob's in Philly, Pa.) I went to school with Ray's daughter "Donna" and also knew service manager thru his son. They (dealership) swapped out and kept new 304 for warrenty engine, I paid for parts at a good discount and they got my 304 for the labor. I miss the days of dealer wheeling and dealing. The wagon kept the 304 emblems and raised hell racing at MacGuire AFB in New Jersey <grin>. I sold it to the service manager when I got transferred overseas with Navy, it rusted away in about 4 years.
Worked for a gl*** shop in 65, before I went into the army.We did replacements for a Ford dealer. One day we get a 64 Wildcat convert. with cracked vent gl***, power everything, reverb am/fm radio, tilt wheel, airconditoned with a 4 speed. Somebody had traded in for new T-bird.
