another paint question

Auto body supply store gave me DX685 flattening agent for lacquer instead of DX265, will I have a problem?

 

Is This a trick question?

It's kinda hard to give you an answer, since we have no idea what you are putting it in....I'd suggest you call the paint store where you got it, or look at the tech info sheet for the paint you're using.

 

you want 265. Do not use the 685.

 

I'm putting it in lacquer, they were out of DX265 and said DX685 will work,I'm skeptical,looked it up on the computer when I got home,just double checking,paint and materials are expensive nowadays.

 

I'd be holding out for the correct stuff if it was me. I don't care that they say it will work ... apparently the stuff they supplied you with isn't the "correct" flattening agent. Why gamble? As you yourself said .... "paint ain't cheap nowadays".

 

I would get the correct stuff or you may find yourself doing a lot more sanding and painting than intended..I just tried a suggestion made to me by a shop's pro painter,,well he don't know what he was talking about,,i tested on small area, no good..Got to go with my first plan.
This flattened lacquer,,will it lay smooth and is it easy to clean,,can you just spray the car off with a hose to clean or you gotta go at it with a rag?

I painted a car with a high gloss metallic paint and did not get a good finish so I wet sanded it and the result was a finish that looked like a dulled/flat paint job,,I was tempted to leave it as such. It looked good but I wanted shiney on that car
