I live in California and it's miserable in the summer in a black car with no Air Conditioning. I'd like to add the A/C to my car but since I'm a budget guy, the $1600 - $1700 option from Vintage air doesn't work for me. Has anyone found / used a production units to retrofit to these cars? Thanks
I am right with you on the cost factor.... I went with Souther Air, and bought their SuperFrost system. If I ever buy another rod and need A/C I will buy another Super Frost system. I think I have about $700 total into it, and that is including the repositioning brackets I bought seperate. Southern Air's customer sevice was excellent, Great group of folks.
I am in the same boat as well. My buddy Pat has his AC tech certifications and he gave me a long winded explanation about "system capacity". I am trying to put on into my '56 f-100 and have been looking at civic's and other jap imports because of the under dash ac/heater box. The only problem my buddy Pat mentioned was that the compressor from my lightning donor truck would probably blow the import ac unit/heater distribution box. Get the entire system out of an import and get some lines made up. That's the route i am currently piecing together.
