Hi, I am in the Ft. Meyers Fl. area for next 3 weeks and would appreciate any information on Car Shows or Swap Meets? Thanks, Larry
You just missed a nice show in Naples last Saturday, about 500 cars. There is another one in Naples next Saturday (the 11th) but it is Ferraris and stuff like that mostly, Naples has some serious old money. We might take our rods with open headers just to rub elbows with the rich people. It is on 5th avenue in Old Naples. Every Monday there is a pretty big show at Merchants Crossing in North Ft Myers. It is from 5-8 and I am told it gets a big turnout, but have never been there. This area is not a hotbed of rodding events or swapmeets. There is a swap meet of sorts at the Muscle Car Museum in Punta Gorda one day a month, but I am not sure what day that is. The first Monday of every month there is a nice little show from 5-8 at Parrot Key on Main Street at the foot of the Ft Myers Beach Bridge. Just turn left immediately before you start up the bridge and go up Main St all the way. Finally, there is a downtown FM car show the 4th Saturday of the month from 5-8. Not a bad show and lots of places streetside to eat and drink. Don
Yo Don, I have a house in Naples that we fly into to visit the grand baby. I would like to get a rod over there some winter for cruzin'. I heard about Pastrami Dan's being a Saturday nite hangout but have not had the time to check it out yet. Any worth to that?
Staying long? I'm registered for this show. Gary Feb 26 Open car and truck show at Rick Trewordy's Muscle Car City, Punta Gorda, FL. Limited to 300 vehicles. See: www.premiumcarshows.com
Merchants crossing gets a lot of cars on Mondays. Fosters Grille on Wednesdays in Cape Coral gets a bunch of cars too. Email this guy, LWNKDAY@AOL.COM he has a list of all the places to go around Fort Myers. Mike
Funny you should mention Pastrami Dan's. We stopped there to eat on the way home from a show last Saturday, but didn't realize they had any car action going on. The parking lot is kinda small, so not sure how that would happen. But I can tell you the Pastrami sandwiches are the best I have ever had outside of NYC. The Cool Cruisers have a little getogether every Saturday night in the Kmart/McDonalds lot on 41 just North of Pastrami Dans. It can be ok sometimes and sometimes just a few cars show up. Don
Thanks, Don. I'll have to check it out. The house we have there does not have a garage. If we keep the place, that is something I will have to remedy. Then, maybe I can transport one down there to do some cruz'n with you guys. Seems like there are a lot of FordBarner flathead guys down in that area, also.
