For those of you who have been following, I'm going to keep this going. This morning I was thinking about how much everyone else who took the time to share what they have done on their build has helped the progress of my build and how important it is to pay that forward. There are countless numbers of threads from various builds that I could list, but the point is, I'm going to keep sharing with the hopes that it may help even ONE person with their build. If it does help someone, hopefully it's in a GOOD way and not one of those, "okay, that's the way I'm NOT going to do it" type of ways. HAHA! :D

The previous thread that sums up the build up to this point his here:

    http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=437990

So now... What's left? Final prep and paint, interior work (what little there will be), insulating, ***embly, wiring, trouble shooting and getting that Hemi dialed in, and the most important part...

    ...The first drive!

The past couple months have been difficult ones. Been working at the shop long hours on the weekends and trying to get a task or two done each night after a full day at my day job. Slowly, the list gets shorter, though.

So here's where I'm at! Prep for final body work work and paint! Seats are now at home so my Wife and I can start s***ching the seat covers and cushions, and I'm ready to finish up the short "to do" list for the ch***is. 99% of the parts are now here to finish this thing. Now it's just all about labor!

    The latest...

Body is basically completely apart at this point.

This past weekend I had a few odds and ends that needed to get finished on the bottom, so I got to forkin' around!

Spent a lot of time de-rusting, finishing up any remaining welds, and general prep work so I can prime the bottom and get it ready for Lizard Skin heat and sound control.

The bottom also got a cable conduit that runs between the rocker panel and the frame. Since the car is so low it was worth it to take 20 minutes or so and weld in a conduit, of sorts, to protect the master positive cable and any other wires running to the rear of the body. I used a piece of exhaust tubing I had laying around and squashed it to an oval shape and welded it in place. Had to make it oval so it didn't interfere with the body when it gets set back on.

For some reason, I didn't take any pictures of it welded in place. I could have SWORN I took at least one, but I guess not. So you'll just have to believe me.

    Seats ready for upholstery.

And a few other pics from the weekend...

Roof header bead now flows around the insert (thanks Dan for the input leading to that decision!)

And a little reminder left in place that the car is NOT a Murray... :D

So thanks everyone for all the support over the years. Been about 5 years now, I think. Ridiculous. But it's finally coming to an end. The momentum is strong and sleep is decreasing... HAHA!

Thanks guys! And thanks Jeffrey for the pics. I guess I took a couple with my phone of the bottom with the conduit in place, but not with my camera...

    Awesome, Scott!

I've studied many of your photos/posts to figure out ways to do things on my Roadster. Many of us also appreciate the time and effort it has taken you to post so many photos and written details of your build.

Sorry if you may have answered this in your other thread, but what are you planning to do to clean and seal/prime all of the bare metal? When I'm done with metal work, my initial thought is to have the whole body soda blasted and spray a good etching primer everywhere I can.

Good luck on The Final Chapter!

    Thanks Nick!!!

Good question! I don't think I mentioned it anywhere, actually...

The IDEAL thing would be to finish all the metal work and then have it soda blasted or something. I've been keeping up with the surface rust, for the most part though. And it's INCREDIBLY expensive to have the whole thing blasted. So before laying down any filler or primer, I'm prepping the surface mechanically with abrasives, and then any little areas I'm going to use a spot blaster. I did this with the frame before I painted it and it worked REALLY well and got where the abrasives couldn't reach. I have a TON of little challenging spots inside. I'll be doing that inside for sure!

I'm using an epoxy primer for my base, followed by a single stage acrylic urethane color.

My spot blaster is like this one, but a chinese knock off. Works fine for what it is. Makes a HUGE mess!! HAHA!

If you have any "flat" spots you need to hit with that speed blaster take a small funnel and stuff and tape it onto the nozzle, then slice a piece of 3/8"fuel line and put it around the big lip of the funnel... it will blast a nice little circle and you can dump the sand into a coffee can.

Im guessing most of what you have left is stuck in the lower seams in corners, but the trick may come in handy eventually and it keeps sand from getting in your whiskers!

That RULES! I like this idea! Thanks man!

And yes, most of what I have is seams and corners and stuff.

Actually, more than that. Since I have had to go to work for somebody else, I just don't have that much time any more. But I always follow your build. The only problem with that I keep finding more things to do to mine when I get back to it.
