Brake hose's

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by ottoparts, May 7, 2011.

  1. I just put exploder disc's on my 8". Are the hose's off the caliper all right? Or with they be considered to tight of bends?
    When you grab the hose's they are not under allot of pressure.

    As a rule of thumb, flexible hoses must not be forced into a radius tighter than the manufacturer’s specified minimum radius for each hose diameter. Last thing you want is the flexible hose bending on itself or kinking, then restricting the flow of fluid to the calipers. A smooth gradual radius and transition from point 'A' to 'B' as the line is fixed at both ends, it won't move around. Once installed you want to make sure that the flexible lines don't interfere with the chassis, body, exhaust of other parts. Due to their short individual length they require no intermediate support. Make sure you have sufficient clearances so they don't catch on anything once installed. The bleeder screws are above the hose inlet to allow pressurised air to escape when bleeding. Google is good for these things.

    CONSTANT RADIUS TRAVELING LOOP (A-LOOP) - Left Formula: L = 4R +1/2T
    VARIABLE RADIUS TRAVELING LOOP (B-LOOP) - Right Formula: L = 4R + 1.57T

    For the following formulas for flexible lines:-

    L = Live length of hose (inches) The live length of the assembly is the amount of active (flexible) hose in an assembly; that is, the hose between the collars.
    T = Travel (inches)
    S = Hose outside diameter

    Verify that the installed radius is greater than the stated Minimum Bend Radius for the hose at the required working pressure.

    Verify that the centerline of the hose remain in the same plain during cycling to prevent twisting the assembly.

    I'm using an explorer axle w disc brakes. The pass side looks close to stock afa the loop is concerned. A stock drivers side has the caliper flex hose, the chassis flex hose and the T fitting all in one unit. A clean arrangement. The loop is still about the same.

    they sell adaptors in brass for that they ussually are in the bins under the counter at napa s other than that your looking at remaking the pipe end of the line , or having a custom braided brake hose made
