well it took some time but i finally got the 318 mounted in the dodge. last night i re installed the front fenders to see how much of the inner fender wells have to be cut around the exhaust manifolds. I also got the disk brake kit from scare bird installed. while i was installing the brake kit i got to s****e off 60 years worth of grease, i probably got 15 pounds of grease off the front suspension parts alone. I also cut the springs in front to see what the front is going to look like after i install the air bags. i found a guy on ebay with great prices on a corvette master cylinder hot rod kit for like 150 bucks so i am in process of installing that. The kit came with a mount booster and new pedal, very nicely built. Along with all those projects, i also bought an ez-wire kit at the good guys fathers day show and have pulled all the wires to their prospective locations.
here is a few more photos from recent work, welding in the floor boards on driver side and how the scare bird kit looks oh yeah and me choking out the retard in chief.
Don't you know that in the operations performed in pictures #1 and #4 your suppose to wear gloves? they protect your hands. Gene
The work in pic four was performed first. Then I went at it welding to hopefully burn off all the slime from that bag.
ok so lesson learned! do not i repeat do not weld floor boards with out first removing the factory straw lined seats first enough said! Fire is out!
For disc kits, also look at www.rustyhope.com (olddaddy here) as well as AAJ www.aajbrakes.com . Not sure if ECI covers the old Mopes. .
I had a thought the other night. Wante to see what you guys thought. Would it be possible to swap the spindles upside down to lower the front? I know some of the older cars were set up to do it fairly easy.
Been super busy lately. We moved into new house. Haven't had much time on my hands for the car so once I found a little time I cut the top off. 4.5 inches it total. Enjoy the pics. Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
Here's some updated pics of the chop. I also shaved the gravel guards and half of the tail light trim pieces. Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
Your wheels will be ****eyed (tilted out at the top). Stock spindle supports have a built in caster angle. In the old days they would heat and bend them to reverse the angle, and swap them from side to side when they turned them upside down. Easier and better to buy dropped spindle supports.
Thanks rusty! I'm still debating a full frame swap due to availability of dropped equipment for the front end. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Chafin I didn't lay it back at all. The roof slid forward like 5 inches and I am doing the back window as we speak . Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
I'm looking to put air on mine soon and I'm contemplating putting a Mustang 2 clip on for the ease of setting it up, but I'm also putting a 4bt in. So I might just build a new frame that's more rigid. You've got me wanting to chop my top now! Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
