Did the ratrod community find it offensive. How do we get rid of the r.r. term? Chopping/Channeling/Sectioning/. . . that's what it was know as, "BUTCHERING" & it kind of bummed you out.

I do love a chopped coupe but, that's about it. Now everything has gone "radical chop, radical this, & radical that", man, those poor sedans.

"Man, that's a cool car! Are you going cut it all up?" How do I explain to this bonehead, you dont chop a "T", let alone what "T" is.

The problems is, it's mostly newbies. But they end up learning by their second ride, after they BUTCHERED their first.

I have to admit, I use to like the look, but that was as a kid, just like a kid likes the Batmobile or The Munster's car(I know, the "T"), but as an adult??? Oh yeah, Grandpa's "Dragula", ****en bad!!!

Not dogging, just enlightening. And if you have to, be suttle, please.

Bizarre post... we all "BUTCHERED" something before we learned how to finesse it.

"Gay" meant "Happy" at one time and "***" meant Cigarette once upon a time. Being Bi was once referred to as AC/DC and Butch was a girl dressed liked a guy. I think you get the picture. I feel Gay and I want a ***.

To put a slightly different point of view, in my opinion it's not so much what you do to the body as how well it is done. A mild chop done with rough mig welds is more butchered than a radical chop done properly and metal finished.

Butchering has many examples......how about a 6x6 for truck bumpers...pipe racks carriage bolted to roof of 65 ford wagon,59 caddy fins welded rudely onto the back of a studebaker Lark? Now that is butchering...chopping a T?, I think they look better that way! Chop a 48 ford....hard to pull off so it doesn't look butchered. My two centavos.

    Facebook? what's that?

i place a lot of blame on MATTEL. and Jada. any number of diecast toy companies that produced TOYS with jumped-up Jesus proportions and wheels that looked like the belonged on stagecoaches..... and kids who grew up thinking those were real cars, and who never took a skinny minute to learn the history of the hobby, or learn any respect for what it took to be a "customizer" of the REAL "old school".

and Harbor Freight, for selling cheap tools and welders, so anyone can hack up a car....

You should start a blog. As far as I can tell, it's for people who want to follow other people's incoherent ramblings, and basic airing of grievances.

Any body can restore a car it takes a real man to cut one up, hence the term butchered.

I just excited to see those, 34pickups, 32 3windows, 33 roadsters, etc. projects & alot of them are clean, cherry. Then they start to get insight into their slicing & dicing & sometimes I just cringe.

I love those carcases, ratty cowls & **** people put back together as works of art like that B*** 29 Coupe or 4doors into 5window coupes. That's making something out of nothing & that's *****ing.

I just want to inform the newbies to take it slow/be informed before they start hacking at history.

moving man is right and we are talking hot rods ! early cars were chopped to go fast on the lakes. that being said i see alot of cars built for the look and are not real drivers so they come up for sale often. if i had one word for the new builders it would be fit it to ur size and height and drive the wheels off it then...just saying:D

That's fighting a losing and never ending battle.

Everyone of us has butchered a car in our lives, it's part of the learning curve. The ones that get it will hone their skills, live, learn, and progress. The ones that don't will go back to building mini trucks...

It's best not to put too much thought into it.
