I'm installing a 6-71 blower on my 331 & would like to use v-belts instead of a 3'' wide drive belt. So with little to no experience with huffers, I need to get some feed back on anyone using v-belts. Also if anyone could help out on the diameters and what amount of boost to run? Thanks, Slim
I would think a certain amount of slippage if you have a good tight blower such as a Moonyham.I would run the 3 inch wide belts unless a clearance problem exists. If you run 2 v belts it would only be about an inch differance anyway. My 2 cents.
id imagine hes doing it for the old look bangngears. most ive seen are 3 v belts. allot of blown flatties have 3 or 4 belts ive seen. i think 2 would be stretching it (literally)
V-belts start slipping at around 8 psi (read that from a artical by big name blower builder many many years ago, I don't remember who it was though).
Yeah, Going for the more traditional look. Thanks for the reply's Any other info or guidance would be helpful
Tom Beaty made some of the first blower drives, his was always with V belts. I think he ran 7 for compe***ion and 5 for street.
Found a little info here on the Hamb. But still looking for info on the pulley diameters, I will be machining these myself but need to know what size pulleys are recomended for a street car. Any info helps Thanks
