Alright so in December I bought a 1953 Chevy wagon from the one and only Brad Masterson.. Since its gonna be traveling the distances and going around to all kinds of car shows full of merchandise (possibly towing) I wanted something that was more reliable and capable so I bought a 94 silverado with the 350 TBI. Also since im a Jew and don't have all the fancy tools I'm having nothing to do with getting that sucker on the other sucker right.. The frame had to be cut a shit ton and as it sits now the front is about an inch or so wider than stock.. The rear end almost didn't fit but with a low offset 15x6 that thing sits flush in there. So here's some pics of when it came down last month.. Here's some more of the process so far.. Oh and excuse the stock silverado wheels that stick out like a a paisa in a honda.. Alright so I only have one wheel that's the right size right now so this is how it sits with the truck wheels.. This thing is also going to be customized at Masterson Kustoms. Brad and I have gone back and forth about whats gonna be done with it and were both stoked and have the whole car planned out except for the hubcaps ima run.. So stay tuned for that.. Also ima put a Pendleton headliner... I already talked to Pendleton and got my material.. So this thing should come out pretty cool.. Just hope I'll have the time and money to get this thing done in time for Santa Maria.. If it all goes as planned its cutting it close.. But otherwise I'll have it painted with interior by the time of ink n iron.. But no body ever knows how money is gonna be so don't hold me to that.. -Josh Greenspan
so did ya do a whole frame swap? or just the front clip? if just the front i would have scrapped the truck frame & did a gm car sub swap or crown vic swap, much less work & cheaper in the end,or ever a Sten swap {narrower} not trying to be a kill joy but it looks like a lot of extra work-to me...
It was the whole thing.. The only reason I used it was because I got the truck for cheap I was just using the motor and tranny but then as we started pulling the wagon apart it there were things that had to be replaced and it was cheaper to just use the existing things from the silverado..
Josh, Your car is going to drive like a truck! Just messin' with you. Brad will do a good job for you. By the way, the Pendleton headliner is a killer idea. For those of you that don't know what Josh does, go check out his website Greenspans.com. You will see why the Pendleton in such a good idea.
"Wheels that stick out like a Paisas on a honda" This had me rolling. Im digging the headliner idea also. Good shit
Subscribed! A high school/college friend of mine had a '53, then a '54 moredoor and I spent way too many hours cruising with him and going on long road trips for no apparent reason than the gas was cheap and we had time on our hands. That '53 wagon will be a blast to work on and a joy to drive.
Haha oh I know.. Ill probably have it parked in the entry way all beat up with greenspans canned on the side or this guy I know (DA Designs) is just gonna do an antiqued/old looking version until its painted.. And then I'll have a legit one one the side..
I had to pull strings because they had to pull strings to get the pattern I wanted so I don't know the ease of it.. But I think they sells the blanket material in yards..
I wish you luck. that is not a great choice for a frame swap and will make it difficult. should have used an s10 or something closer in width so allow for a decent rim offset, not a front wheel drive wheel. I will watch to see how this comes out.
It's a RWD.. And it's just what I had since I was just using the motor and tranny but after tearing the wagon apart it was apparent that I needed a donor car but the motor/trans were already out of the silverado so to save time and money this was the easiest thing that couldve been done since I had the truck lying there..
It's march 18th.. Sorry I Havnt checked this.. But it may rain so thursday we will know what's up.. As far as right now it's still on..
This is a pic with the silverados 15x7 wheels with a 3.75in backspacing on 235 70 15 tires.. What I'm going to run in the back for sure and testing the front when I get the wheel this week is a 15x6 with a 4in backspacing with a 215 70 15 tire if it doesn't work in the front I'm going to run a 15x5 with a 3.75in backspacing and a 205 75 15 in the front.. Just if anyones doubting if it fits.. Josh
