There was some talk by McPhail about getting together at the Salina KKOA show at the end of July for some good times. What hotel is everyone going to stay at? Preferably one next door to a ***ty bar! It is no secret that I like to have a good time, since I have never been to a KKOA show or Kansas for that matter I need to know where to make my reservations. Thanks in advance!
Most any hotel/motel in Salina has rooms...the headquarters is full...for a long time already...Salina Inn is next door, Holiday Inn Express is next door...these are just off I-70, six bloks from the event...just check out hotels in Salina on the web...and there's plenty of them so don't panic...and Salina isn't that big...it's about 10 minutes in any direction to the center of town from the outskirts... Don't know if there are ***ty bars in Salina... Looking forward to meeting you, Plowboy, if you bring that rod out there, it'll be a big hit!!! Trust me! We've chatted many times via this electronic box...I'll be there in the rad '57...and I'll be doing a book signing for those of you that haven't bought my book yet! R-
Thanks Roger! I am not panicing, I just want to stay where the "good time" is and not with a bunch of people that are going to go to bed at 9:00. Is any one else going? Monsterflake, you can share a room with me and my buddy if you want. I like to keep things on the cheap. I will probaly go down on Friday and come home Sunday. PM me your number and we can talk about it.
Stacy and myself are thinking of jumping in his 37 Chevy coupe and blasting out.Kurt McKormick is supposed to debut his 41 Cad ragtop there!
I will be there with the '62 500, we got us a cabin at the KOA campground about five blocks away, me and my boy. If the wife don't come we'll have an extra bed. Salina's my hometown, and yeah, there are plenty of motels/hotels... but i would get a room now, ya' never know what else is goin on in town that weekend, they might fill up quick! Looking forward to meeting ya' all!

I'm at the holiday inn express, with old iron horse magazine editor David Snow, his brother, coronas and margarita fixings FRITZ
the mcpherson college auto restoration school at mcpherson ks. would be an interesting place to stop on the way to salina from wichita. it is about 1 mile off the interstate. could probably arrange a tour w the school.
Hey Mcphail and a bunch of us are stayingat the fairfield inn, and will definitely be hitting the ***ty bar fri. or sat.
I just got back from Salina and had a great time. Saw guiseart and his cool car and bought a autographed copy of 40StudeDude's book, saw plowboys lunar spaceship truck it is one nice looking ride, I didn't get to meet him though maybe next time I'll find him. morebel
i sure do miss the old horse. what has david snow been up to? his editorial and bike lit crit were the first things i read.
I got to go Friday evening and Saturday. Good Times!!! The drag race deal at the old airstrip Friday night was a bit of a disapointment. I had to spin my tires a bit before I left though and that helped ;-). Man, am I chomping at the bit for the HAMB Drags or what? Saturday was great. Tons of great rides and great folks. If you didn't make it you missed out. How far did Hines get on that chop? I left something like 5:00. It was cool to see how it's done first hand.
Hey Kerry, They were still working on that Chebby Chop when I left at noon Sunday. I don't think they got it done, but maybe some one else will correct me. Maybe you should have taken some of your left over JB Weld from your leak repair and helped out. I enjoyed talking with you over at Roger's table. You got a rightious ride, man! Love them Hemi's
I know this sounds lame , kind of like my dog ate my homework. I took pictures, however there was only one food vendor and the lines were long , I had put the digital camera in my front pants pocket. By the time I finally got to order and eat , I guess I had screwed up the camera. All I got was a picture that was blury looks like the inside of a pants pocket and a picture of my shoes. morebel (roving photographer)
