Hello all! Newbie here. Just figured I had better stop by and introduce myself. My name is Ron, and I have been lurking on these boards for quite some time. I am 30 years of age, with the soul of an old man. I live on a run down acreage, surrounded by old cars and a motorcycles. I don't own any fancy tools or have a degree in mechanics. I am currently working on rebuilding and modifying a 1958 Cadillac 62 series 2 door hardtop and making one hell of a mess in the process. I am also going to attempt to learn pinstriping just to see if I can do it. I live just outside of Saskatoon Saskatchewan, in the middle of nowhere and I love it. Nothing better than being able to crank up some old blues or rockabilly music in the garage and pull wrenches at 3AM with no neighbours to complain. I would just like to say thanks to all veteran posters for sharing their wealth of information on all of the subjects discussed here on the H.A.M.B, and look forward to learning alot more and contributing when I can.
Thanks all. The Caddy was an accidental find, but it has become my main focus. I have owned 7 or 8 different Cadillacs in my short time on this planet. Most of them from the '80s and '90s. I caught the bug from my father, who always wanted "one of them big finned bastards from the '50s" in his driveway. He passed away never having achieved that goal, so when I happened upon this one for sale, I wired the owner the money and sent a flat deck for it. All original as it sits, albiet missing some metal due to rust, but a good base to start with. Eventually hope to have it sprayed with a satin black finish and some pinstriped accents on the hood and back end. Nothing too over the top, but enough to catch your eye. Keeping an eye out for old '30s and '40s shells that are good for a decent rod as well.
