Ride his ass man!! Gotta keep us older guys focused and moving or nothing gets done!:D

    Thanks eah!

The back bumper is about an inch or so lower than the stock one would be an pulled about 2 inches away from the body...lots of room around the splash pan...I am not really a fan of the bumpers "tucked" closer to the body unless its a hot rod...I like the long and low look for this car ...the front is in about the same location as stock, but I havent done my final adjustments to it yet. I am still gonna lower the car a bit yet so that will change the look some more as well. I will have to find that book, thanks! I actually went to the spinal clinic today, they actually called with a cancellation earlier this week....I could see the bone spurs built up on the 4/5 disc that are torturing the sciatica nerves...it hurt just looking at it ...the end result was that he ordered an MRI ...so more waiting :( for answers ....

Haha they will keep you young

Depending how I feel when I get in tomorrow I will try and get a few pics up...but basically I have been sanding mud for the last couple of weeks...just about finished the skirt/lower quarter on the drivers side ...been fine tuning door and trunk gaps ...got the trunk pretty well ready for the first round of primer and both quarters...gotta block out the roof and fix a few low spots ...ready to pull the other door off, and do the last bit of metal work around the hinge and got the rocker/step plate area ready for prime as well...and a bunch of other little shit done that doesnt make for great pics lol but I will update !

My father just went thru surgury for his back- had the same spurs pressing in the sciatia
nerve, they missed one spur on the first round but got it on the second- 83 and he no longer needs a walker, hope your results are as good. Jim

Well I tell ya some days I feel 83 and could use a walker! I have a feeling they are gonna want to operate as I dont think any kind of physio is gonna make bone spurs dissapear ! If it helped your Dad it will hopefully do the same for me...

I didnt get much done this weekend...froze my ass off all day sat working outside on my ol 12 valve cummins ...electrical issues oh joy...like a fool I thought Mopar had there wiring issues resolved by then  what a nightmare and even if I could push it in its too long to fit in the shop anyways. I did get some sanding done for a couple of hours on Sunday when I decided I wasnt freezing my ass off when I had a warm shop and some bondo to sand :D I will get some pics up in the next couple of night!

Quit running after the wife started it...I found a broken wire near a fusible link that feeds the ignition switch, replace the bad wire, blew the FL ,replaced FL with a new fuse holder and 40 amp fuse, as soon as the switch is turned all the way to start it blows the fuse...the wire is fine all the way to the switch...dead short somewhere . I was gonna pull all the fuses and see if it will crank if it does I will start replacing them till it blows again, try and isolate the faulty circuit ...at least thats the current plan lol!

Steve sound like that main power wire is grounding out somewhere. Can you find both ends??where it starts and ends. make a jumper and by pass it. Try using a test light on the fuse.. power up the test light and use the fuse as the ground..light lights up it crossed out sonewhere..Oh and then cut the fuse out and try both ends to to see what side it is grounding on..

Big difference with the grille in there.
The skirts really smooth things out.

One of the original plans on my 40 was to have the 41 style bubbles on the bottom,
but using the stock running boards was easier.
Looking at your car I'm gonna have to see if I want to add a weeks work...

    Keep at it!

Steve, a friend of mine had a similar problem with his. In his case it was the engine stop solenoid that cuts the fuel when you turn the key off. iirc its energized with the key on and can pull a lot of power when something goes wrong with it.

Thought I would pass that along.

About as exciting as it gets ! I have been trying to get it fairly straight...less work to do later I am close to ready to get a fresh coat of epoxy on the roof/quarters and trunk lid, buts its still a little too cold to paint...which is how and why I kinda got carried away getting the mud work doneat least now I will be able to seal up the basic shell and get going on the rest of the panels. Anyways you guys seem to like pics  so heres a few boring bodywork ones. The yellow zinc primer is to keep the flas rust away from the bare metal spots where I have broken through the stuff epoxy on the car now.

Door gap looked like crap so same idea as the other side 1/8 rod fully welded on..

Bit of fine tuning later on and it will look pretty decent...

I hated this side of the splash panel its pretty much covered by the bumper but I still had to re do it.Went super fast with the shrinker, new piece cut/formed and welded up in about 35 mins !

Cleaned up and the offending area removed..

Welded up ....notice I cut it too short and had to weld the end back on

This trunk gap drove me nuts till I fixed it this weekend...doesnt look like much but its much betters and I can live with it..it will get some fine tuning later anyways. The gap was too wide, and lower than the trunk skin in some spots and higher in others.I cut the whole edge off and did some reshaping then welded a piece of rod in, but it looks so much better.I forgot to take pics before but I am sure you could see it somewhere else in this thread.

Speaking of before and after!!!!!!!!!!!! From the two pictures you would not believe these are one in the same car (unless you read the entire thread that is). It looks incredible. Your the man Steve. Regards, Rhys.

Wow! I'd lost track of this build and just reread the thread. You've certainly come a long way. Lookin' good!

  28. Geesh Steve your moving right along . Its looking good and I agree that it will look even better when you get the primer to it . Then you will be able to fully appreciate the amount of work that you have into this thing. Stay at it . Later , Andy...

Whoa. That looks killer! I love when 4-door to 2-door conversions turn out half as great as this one has.
