The is the 60 Nomad (or LOMAD as I call it) owned by one of my best friends, Dallas, otherwise know as "The *****killer" (tm). We call him that because he's a pretty boy, and if you're hanging out with him and want chicks to notice YOU, plan on bringing a flare gun. He's a good dude though. As nice & polite as they come. Before he bought it, we were talking about what he wanted to build and he said "I guess I'll just buy and old truck or something", and I said to him "you don't sound too excited about it". Then he said "well, let me show you what I'd REALLY like to build", and showed me a picture on his fridge of a 60 Nomad sitting on 20 inch dubs that he took at some car show a few years earlier, and said "but I'll probably never get lucky enough to find one". And I told him "I'll find you one within a week". I remember telling him "dude, a year into whatever you're building, you're going to HATE the car. You will curse it and the day you bought it. The only thing that kept me going when I did the Riv is that it was the exact car I wanted, so if you're going to go through all of that ****, at least build the car you really want." Anyway, a week later he owned this one. I found this wagon out in Tulsa in decent original condition. A little hail damage, a few minor rust spots here & there, and the motor was pretty much shot, but it was a great starter car. No collision damage and all the gl*** was OK (and he got a great deal on it). Anyway, he ditched the 283 & glide & replaced it with a 350/350 combo, bagged it, flaked the roof, new wheels, blah, blah, blah, yadda, yadda, yadda. You get the idea. The funny thing is that now that it's done, the one pictured on his fridge isn't half as nice as his. That's pretty cool. I think he did a good job with the car and I'm stoked for him. There's a shot or two in my front yard, a couple at Davis Island Beach, and one of it sitting out in front of "The HUB" (the bar where we hang out). Enjoy.
And here's a few of my beloved Riv before the EVIL ***** SENT BY SATAN IN THE SILVER SATURN ****ED HER UP!!!!!!! I love this car. She'll be back.
And my 59 Buick (the DEATHMOBILE) in case you missed it in a post a few weeks ago. 59 LeSabre body sitting on a 70 Wildcat frame. Mildly built 455 & trubo 400. It wants to harm you.
Nice wagon. I've always felt that they should have changed the name when they added the extra doors and lost the roof stripes. To me Nomads and T-Birds are 2 door 50's cars. I've owned 2 Nomads, a 55 and a 67. First thing I did when I got the 67 was pull the name off of it. It just didn't feel right. Like an Elvis impersonator...
I'm ***uming you were there to see him dragging *** into Nad's groundhog's day show. Unfortunately I was unable to attend. I heard it was quite a spectacle.
I see lowered cars like that all over out here... when you lower a car, there are things that NEED to be adjusted! hahaha His front wheels look knock-knee'd! Looks don't impress me as much as perfect mechanicals... Still its a nice wagon, just fix the front end please.
It just looks like that when it's laying on the ground. I've ridden in that wagon at 80 plus & it goes straight & doesn't shake at all. That damn thing rides like a caddy.
Screw the cars I want to see the ***** Killer, I've heard so much about him. His wagon is squat on demand right? I'm not a big bags guy but you have to admit, they make that wagon. They're all pretty nice cars, shame that the got crunched.
hes bagged so if he fixed the negative camber with it aired out he would have that much positive camber at ride height. theres no way to get around the camber issue without exstensive reengineering of the suspension
so like, what? you guys just go boating all day and then to the bar every night?!? damn. some of us actually have to work for a living, you know the wagon gives me wood. awesome ride! tred.
Well, we pull the boats in to have tea around lunch time, and then dinner at the yacht club afterward, but yeah, that's pretty much it. Oh yeah, and then we go to sleazy strip clubs after the bar closes.
Just a camber thing with bagged cars. Mine does the same thing when the front is all the way down. Freaked me out the first time I saw it.
Nice rides man. That Riv would have been killer draggin *** too! That longroof is pretty gnarly lookin as well!
Nice to see ya around again Jeff, and Squigy is right, the Lomad is much better in person, I still don't see how you can drive at night with a silver 'flake dash. The old Hub had more character. but the drink strength remains the same. I watched a video game brought to life out in front of the old Hub one night when a guy in a faily new VW Corrado and a 74 GMC PU when at at, repeatedly smashing into each other until the VW wouldn't run anymore.
Thanks Mike. I have seen a lot of strange things go down at the Hub. When you hang at the bar where the strongest drinks in town are served, it's always a show. It's a nice eclectic mix of people. From the University of Tampa crowd to the Tampa chapter of the Outlaws, you pretty much see 'em all down there at one time or another. They all know Dallas and I as "the car guys". If I had a dime for every time the Riv, or my old 65 or 68 Impala were parked out front, and I had some loud spitting drunk find me and tell me an hour long story about the 78 Malibu cl***ic they drove in high school, I could probably retire. Thanks to everyone for the kind words about our heaps.
I love what he did to the wagon . Bad ***. But there is something wrong going on there at the front end. Those front wheels have a little too much camber. Unless... I'm walking with a hard one today.
