when buying a car from canada? what is needed to bring it to the US and register it in the U.S? any help is greatly appreciated. looking at a lincoln on friday in vancouver, BC. -Chris
Unless things have changed, nothing. I bought a 57 210 handyman years ago and since it was American made I didn't even have to pay any border taxes. So get the ***le or whatever else you can and you should be good.
i sent one the other way and the buyer told me that canadian to u.s. transfers were easy but the u.s. to canada ones were a pain because of having to have a broker to get it out of canadian customs.
cool thanks for the input. headed this week to hopefully "if everything goes well" ill be the proud owner of a 53 lincoln, to go along with my 53 Ford Victoria.
Quite painless if you are taking it back yourself. You only need a broker if you're getting it shipped. No ***les here in Manitoba. The registration is the ownership do***ent which you will need along with a Bill of Sale. Not sure what B.C. has for ownership do***ents. Good luck.
ive had my eye on it, but im running out of parking. looks fairly solid. bc doesnt have a "***le" per say, but a registration slip. little white piece of paper. if its a modern icbc copy, make sure its the most current. if one has been made after the one he may try to give you, there could be a h***le. there are dates on the upper portion. if its an old typewriter version, your good to go.
Awesome!! Thanks the wife wants the Vic. I'm a Lincoln man myself. I wonder what he means by yard drives.
