Went out for a mini road trip this morning to look at an engine a guy had for sale. Was cruisin around some back roads and saw some "shiny" things way back in the bush on the far side of a field. Unfortuantley I didn't have a camera with me but there was some pretty good old stuff back there. I'm going to have to go back with a camera, take some shots, and find out who owns them. From what I can remember there was: - Chevrolet touring, originally thought it was an rpu until I found the back half of the car aways away in the bush - 1927 Model T coupe - about a 32-33 Chev 1/4 ton truck. had a filled roof and overhead valve 6 in it. - about a 36/37 Chev (I think) roadster that was kinda weird. I think it was a coupe at one time because the cowl is butchered at the top of the windshield but it it had top irons in it - a couple of mid 40's Ford 4 doors - a couple of model A sedans - a 1958 Cadillac Fleetwood and a couple others I can't remember. The comments lately about keeping your eyes open sure are the truth.
I always take the state highways. Took 80 from Macon to Savannah and just east of Macon saw a farmer with a later model Henry J (had a truck lid)drug to the roadside probably for sale, a '49 Chev and something later.
Was back out there yesterday with my camera. Here's some pictures. Can anyone identify the mid 30's GM tudor?
I'm trying to find the owner of the land. The "T" actually wasn't bad at all. A little rusty around the belt line behind the 1/4 windows and the bottom of the cowl (a lot rusty)
Unless someone's removed the side skirts, boot lettering and rear bumpers trims, that's not a Fleetwood....just an ordinary sedan, possibly with an extended deck.
Neat finds - 'specially that T coupe. If it helps any, you haven't posted any pics of "mid-40's Ford 4 doors". You have a couple of late '30's Chevys, a mid to late 40's Chevy, and what looks to be some type of Mopar (the one without a front clip). Good stuff. Certainly worth following up on. Thanks for the pics. JH
In the picture of the Mopar four door in the background I can clearly see a picture of a GTO with JUDGE STRIPES! Oh my God got any pictures of that? I think I'm gonna wet my pants!
I think that thing that looks kinda like a stripe is actally a piece of rusty metal lying in between the two cars... But you might be right. Man I wish I could find even one place like that around here, they take them and crush them here pretty quick it seems.
if you somehow someway end up with this stuff and can part with this one cheap...i may be interested nice find zach
It does have GTO stripes. I didn't look at that closely because I was thinking it was just a Lemans with stripes. I think the front end was off it. Next time I'm back trying to track the owner down I'll take another look at it.
Neat stuff! The possibilities are endless with iron like that! I kinda like the two door sedan... looks like a Chevy, the one with the top cut off! That coupe with the top cut off looks like it could make something neat too! Sam.
