I thought I would bring this to the top as it is something I have wondered also. It may of been shortly after the SCTA allowed coupes to compete.
That is the common thought. For exact info ask Jim Miller at the American Hot Rod Foundation, www.ahrf.com DW
I believe that Russetta ran all the way into at least the mid to late '50's........I have photos of Russetta tags from as late as 1956, but I think they may have run longer than that.........I may be wrong but I thought that they may have sanctioned races as late as 1960.... CB
Ha!!....yeah, you've got me busted! Now answer the question! What year was the last Russetta meet? ???? CB :^)
I just spoke to a fellow who has tags up to 1961... He has several 59 tags for a Streamliner #90 going 114 on 6-21-59 and 138 on 5-24-59... Does anyone know what body style that would be? I'm trying to match a tag to my car...
Can someone let me know why the tag colors were differant... one color for fasted personal time and another for fast class time at the event?
I have been trying to track this down, but nothing concrete yet. I believe that Russetta Timing Association (RTA) ceased to be in 1962. I was president of SCTA 1961 & '62. Two important things happened under my watch...the Rod Riders joined with SCTA and we took over full control of Speedweek forming Bonneville Nationals, Inc. (BNI) during that time.
