    Hi,
I recently acquired a 53 Ford Mainline and the whole car is in great condition but has been sitting for quite a few years. My first task is to get the car running again, it is 6 volt positive ground, so i bought a new battery and new coil, replaced the points and condenser and made sure the points were set correctly, the cap and rotor look new. I the cleaned the fuel system out, took the carb off and cleaned it, made sure i had new gas in it. When i go to start it it cranks and cranks but doesn't fire. I held the coil wire near the block and cranked it but saw no spark, so i used my multimeter and i am getting a reading from the coil. I put the coil wire back in the distributor and pulled a plug and did the same but i am not getting any spark there either. I took the cap off and watched the points, they are opening and closing but i am not seeing any spark. I need help, I am 18 years old and trying to teach myself, so any suggestions are a big help. Thank you.

I read somewhere that the gap for that car was .025 but that could be totally wrong, I'll try .018. Any other suggestions?
