This can't be my new idea. I must have seen it somewhere.

I was just thinking of the thread about carb scoops and the junk they let go into the engine. I thought socks. Keep them on at home and while driving and as soon as you want to show the car take them off and you have something to clean with.
That's too simple I must have read it someplace.

If that works, could you use *****hose under the scoops? Might be less noticeable?

I don't think I'd leave them on while driving. They could get ****ed in and jam the throttle blade open. Might give you a wild ride.

I like the idea for keeping **** out at home, don't know i'd wanna drive it with them though...but i have no true reason why, just don't think i would. :)
On my old truck that had tri-power i ran screen at the base of the scoops with lawn mower foam filters on top of that. Worked like a charm and washed right up when dirty. Just another idea.

If it ends up working out and they stay on, I would check for loose sock fuzz inside first that would get ****ed in. Just another thought....

I only say this from seeing a shop rag getting ****ed into a Amal motorcycle carb and jamming the slide. The rag was laying on top of the cases behind and underneath the carbs. He crashed at the big end and his body slid thru the lights at 99 mph! Somebody had been soaking up some oil and forgot to remove the rag. Nobody saw it in the staging lanes at night. Oh yeah, he lost a little skin but was back to race the next week.

By the way, x2 on a *****in car!

I was concerned also about them ****ing into the carb. However with a scrunchy (did I say that word?) maybe they will stay in place. Someone has make a screen or something that looks better.

Br*** screen door/window type can be formed over a baseball to make 1/2 dome, then put that on before you add frogmounth, that then holds it in place,****if you do screen flat across top of carb=not enough screen holes to breth air fully.
I like the sock idea a lot,as it will work for finer drit,so would say use both

Not sure if you can see it in the pictures but I do have screen door mesh under the scoops to keep the boulders out so the sock really can't be ****ed down. Good Idea using br*** and forming it over a baseball bat.

Hilborn has these that can be used for keeping birds and rocks out of the motor. They get a little wrinkled if they get ****ed in the engine though. They are fine at 2500 rpm or less. I have ****ed one or two in, they went through the engine.[IMG]

It was a Triumph. A pretty quick one at that. There's another thread going about the 70's. I haven't looked at it yet but this story is from the 70's. Early 70's when Triumph were still fast. Nothing like the sound of a Triumph twin going thru the gears.

By the way, I didn't look close enough to see screens on the T's carbs. My bad. I probably wouldn't have said anything if I'd seen you had screens. Must be these damn tri-focals.......
