Since I'm not an A-Model guru, hope you can help with this. My good friend has a 31 coupe with some odd bucket seats in it which are very uncomfortable, and he wants to change them. Sooooo, without measuring every brand of bucket seat out there, which seats would you recommend, that would fit well, and not be too hard on his old back:D Thanx in advance for any input.

  2. Middle row bench seat out of a dodge caravan.

  3. Yes, minivan middle seats are going to be the easiest thing to find that will look like it should be in there.

Some minivans have sectional seats that have the look of old style buckets (Oldsmobile, maybe other GM).

  5. I'm using 94 Cherokee buckets in my 31 tudor , don't know if they will fit in a coupe.

If you are looking to go with "non traditional" bucket seats, I know the earlier VW bug bucket seats (without the head rests) fit the cab well and are pretty comfortable. I had a pair in my 30 coupe.

  7. 80's Chevy van front seats are awesome. Plus they are plain with no pleating or ribs. Recover real nice and look traditional.

The slider mechanism is really low profile too.

Late 90's early 00's. Mid row fits after removing arm rest and head rest, very easy to work with.

What about a stock bench seat with updated padding (foam) and modern material.

  12. The older chevy lumina APV, a very, very ugly van-car kind of thing, has some real nice buckets in the back. They fold down flat and they are a narrow seat that fits perfect in an "A". I have them in my '29 Sedan. Works great to flip them down so the kids can crawl in the back. They have seatbelts on them already too.

It also folds forward and reclines.

I would love to see some pictures of various seats/configurations if you all care to share.

I am in the process of making my own with an integral "cage" for seat belts, etc, but I am also open to some nice clean ALREADY available seating:D

Glad this topic was brought up.

    Thanks, Grant

In my Tudor I have early VW beetle buckets, they fit tight, are very comfortable, without head rests. The are tight to the doors though. I have a minivan bench seat in the rear, it folds down.

In my Coupe I went with the super standard and did the minivan bench seat.
I just got it mounted with a hinge. The seat doesn't fold like some. With the hinge, and the fact the seat doesn't fold, the whole seat swings in an arc to the steering wheel. It provides total access to the storage area under the seat, inside of the riser area.

I moved the front seat back to line it up with the front of the stock riser. This essentially required removing about 2-3 inches out of the rear package tray.

I am 6 foot, I chopped the car 4 inches, I have all the leg room I could ask for. Although I haven't driven it yet, sitting in it making all kinds of vroom vroom noises, when shifting from first to second, I almost have to lean forward to get into second.
I think it will work really well.

I've got a '31 coupe with '84 Fiero bucket seats. They are comfortable, fit tightly but pretty well, have stereo speakers in the headrests and I recovered them myself using leather materials and a video from a guy called MrMike in Florida. I am very pleased with them.

If you want to stick with bucket seats go on Ebay and look at older Jeep replacement seats for about(1947-66??).. Nice looking new low back seat for about $125.. They come in Black or tan vinyl.....

I ran buckets for a while in my tudor out of a '87 325i. Black leather 5 way manual adjustable, just fit. Now I run a '94 Caravan bench, folds flat forward and damn near flat back too.
