    Hey folks,
I'm from Chicago, and will be visiting Sacramento for a week June27-Jul2 to see if I'd like to move there to finish my bachelor's. I'll hopefully pop in to SF for a day and hit the wine valley for a bit. Is there anything fun that you know of that I should see? Any events? I like to go out and enjoy an occasional cocktail and see a band.
    thanks
    Kim

I live just south of sac in the country. You will just miss the NASCAR guys on the road course near Sonoma. Not a lot of car stuff going on that week, Aswap on Sat the 2nd, some good sprint races sat nite in Placerville.I'm not much into the club scene anymore but there are some good ones in Sac. As for the wine, i much prefer the wineries in the foorhills east of Sac. The napa valley is way to comercialized (sp) for me! Be glad to meet you for a beer or lunch and kinda give you the lay of the land if you want.

Ya, but you live there. Kim, def. check out Napa, you'll love it. Great place for adults to check out and enjoy the good life for awhile. They have some really nice (and expensive) restaurants in town there too and some of them have live music. Bring lots of $ for wine though, you'll want to bring back as much as you can carry! :D

Like everyone said, eat & drink or just hang out and relax. FYI, if you are in the hospitality industry, often times the wineries will comp your tasting. Go boating / Jet skiing at Lake Berryessa. PM if you want specific restaurant or winery recommendations.

While here take in the Goodguys Nitro Nationals Nostalgia Drag Races at Infineon Raceway, Sonoma. They are taking place June 30-July 2. 1-800-870-RACE for info. Old Sacramento is a place to go. Lot of stuff to check out there, a little touristy though.

When in the City, check out the bars and clubs "south of Market". Market street is like the dividing line where the Financial District and the warehouse districts meet. Depending on what type of music or club you're into, there's something for you. Slim's is a cool place as is Bondage a Go Go....:D
