im going to be painting the roof of my 64 riviera red flake but what is the best way of going about it red with red flake siver flake on red or black with a red candy i have never realy messed with flake whats the best way to get the red b*** boat look and what size flake the rest of the car will be the original artic what
I would practice on something else.. metallic red base, red F11 flake, clear coat, wet sand with 320, red candy coat, clear, wet sand with 600, clear again, wet sand to 1500, then buff. I like to suspend the flake in clear, not intercoat clear, and the reason for all red product is because it will help keep it from splotching. I would use all HOK product also, its made for what you want to do.
On my 64 Chevy wagon Roof I had already painted it Red back in 1996 with Silver and Red Flake with Clear. When I re-did the whole car I shot 5 heavy coats of Silver flake and laid down 7 coats of Kandy Tangerine and then burried it with clear. I used all HOK products. A few days later I sanded the whole roof and laid down all the patterns in Pearl,Kandy Gold scallops and Lace and shot Purple basecoats to create this paintjob. The silver border paint took me 6 hours to lay it out by myself. There was alot of time on that roof. The picture is from last week and still looks Great
