We bought a new freightliner sport ch***is back in 2000 and I was less than impressed with the quality of the cab, especially for the money we paid for it. The cab constantly leaked (water and wind), the window trim rusted immediately, the wiring looked like a blind monkey did it, none of the dash panels lined up or fit properly, fronts seat were uncomfortable, the "custom sound system" sounded like **** and the weather stripping was junk. Mechanically, the truck was great and hauled our 45' stacker like it wasn't even back there, but the cab was complete ****. Long storey short I was really wanting to put a chevy cab over on the ch***is with it attached to the sleeper portion of the cab. It is do-able, but there is a ton of work involved. I would not attempt it unless you are very capable with transferring floor sections and ensuring the structural integrity of the cab. I did a lot of research, but never got around to doing it because I was constantly using the truck to haul our race cars, then the economy went to **** and we had to fire sell most of our racing operation. The biggest obstacle is engine access and fitting that giant radiator behind the smaller front end of the cab over. There are some neat conversions out there. Good luck with it if you attempt it, keep us up to date, I'd love to see the build.
