thanks fitzee! thanks bill!!you are right just feed her and water her and shes good to go !! well heres some stainless work the pics came out shitty for some reason . heres the problem after the chop it didnt line back up whats a man to do ?cut on the line and weld it back up same on the other side here it is about half way through messing with it i think its sanded to 80 in this pic a very very very small ghost from the rod tried 3 different varieties and this one was the best and i ran out of clips so a half ass tape job and some imagination will have to do on this one!
Don't try to open the door with the stainless on it that way...that small indention a the front of the piece you just welded up must go behind the flipper...just in case you didn't know... R-
Thats looking great Flop as usual! And Ted we expect to see some follow up progress pics as the rest of the car progresses !
major changes coming to the top stainless 40 stude no worries about twisting it up!! thanks kev ! thanks kool ! this is really my first time messing with actual stainless trim. ive welded stainless but never trim .its tricky but in the end if you have patience it will work out. the welds were knocked down with an 80 grit roloc then hand filed out . a general idea this took 6 hours and still needs polished completley. there was some previous damage here thats why i cut it where i did. tighter your gap the nicer its gonna turn out heres it on the car polished up a taste and next to the stock piece
thanks for sharing your tips Flop ! i'm not sure i could do such a flawless job, but now i know how you do it
Wow. That is some phenomenal work. Thanks for all the photos of the progress. This machine is going to look fantastic.
thanks ZED!! thanks ron !! well got the a pillar stainless done .ruined the drivers first attempt by stepping on it got a new piece and then finished up the passenger side today! waiting ona few other pieces of trim then shes headed back to ted!
well i know alot of you have been waiting for these. finally got the starter back in today and the car had to go outside immediately . waiting for a few trim pieces to tie everything together then back up to ted !! and the final picture kinda funny story . an old guy was driving by and said i used to work in a body shop way back when . he said give me that damn camera! he said i wish i had pictures infront of some of the cars i worked on. and i thought about it i have no pictures with me and any car i have ever touched !
FLOP!! i absolutely love it man. that's the perfect get-away car. just needs big sacks of money in the trunk with bills flying out the back as i blast for my secret cave, with my girl pleasuring herself next to me and my dog in the back seat. And tacos. I'm eating tacos.
Damn that looks good. (The car I mean... I´m sure Flops a lovely guy and all, but....) Makes the stock version look very dumpy. LOL!
ted where do you come up with this stuff?!?!? haha glad you dig it man! it looks fast sitting there james i love it . bring the back down 3 or 4 inches and i think its good to go stance wise. ohh and thanks for the compliments hahaha !!
Great job Flop! You look about as excited as Sam Barris always looked when he was "asked" to be in pictures of his work.
Mmmmm taco's !!! Beautiful profile! I dont think a Caddy custom can get any classier than this, guys ...Ya nailed it Flop!!
Definitely a work of art! Looking forward to what Ted does with it. You are going to keep us updated, right Ted?
i know its againt some un-written caddy code, but have you ever considered cutting th lumpy "fins" off and rounding the quarters off, down to a trick looking taillight? i've never seen it done but think it'd look sweet
Great eye and style Flop!! The car turned out great!! Ted, can you post a link to the build thread........you ARE going to make a build thread, right???? lol Enjoy those taco's!! Bill
Damn Flop, you nailed it , spot on. I cant wait to see this one finished. I need to free up some time so I can get back to mine. If you guys need any parts let me know. How far away are you from the Pittsburgh Amtrak station ? I gotta drive there tonight. 734-678-6206 Joe
flop....that really came out great. i went back and forth on whether i liked that rear window or not,,,but i gotta say, in the end when i see the whole car, i like it a lot....
thanks everyone!! i was on the fence about the window myself but it worked out very very very well ! we have a photoshop with out the fins but then its just gonna looks like an olds mobile in my opinion damn hoboy just saw this i am about 5 mins from the train station!! thanks nads!! gotta keep warm up here some how!! didnt go richie thanks jim !! hopefully see you in austin in april !
I do wonder about taking a tiny bit of height out of the fins... not removing them, but they seem to stick up twice as high as before, now the roof is lowered.
