The radiator makes me think Federal or Garford. It's an orphan. That radiator may have been a standard item, and to be fair I'm no expert. I see this old stuff from time to time at museums and tractor shows. REO had it's own look to the front much like Packard and Mack. It'll be interesting to see what it is.

    Re_ _ _ _ _ _. I didn't see your clue, I also didn't spoil it. I'm betting i could do a google image search and sypher it out.

Not only is it a great truck great to see its in a solid structure with period perfect wooden floors which are part of the reason its survived in the condition its in.

  13. Circa 1910-1915, that's about all I can tell you. Maybe a little later, truck styling usually tended to be behind automobile styling.

Looks like it says Republic, a company from Alma Michigan, which is just down the road, and where I worked for many years. A man there just wrote a book about the Republic Trucks. I think if you contact the Alma public library they have a lot more info on them.

I was gonna say White. Great Uncle had a similar looking truck. He also had a Maxwell just like Jack Benny's. Love the Duct Tape repair holding on that solid tire. Possum Lodge shop truck!

wow that was fast yep its a republic. thought it might take a little longer then that. you guys know way to much haha. Its a local judge that has since retired and he said that his grandpa bought it new in Marietta Ohio which is about an hour and ten minutes from where its at(todays driviing speeds) but he said back then it took a couple days to get back. he was kinda busy so i didnt get the whole story on it but thought it was kinda cool that it was still in the same family and he said he still had the original bill of sale. He seem to think they was made in Marietta but after looking at the google images link it dont seem right. anyone know more about these trucks?

At one point they sold one of every nine trucks sold in the US. Ironically their productivity is what led indirectly to the demise of the company. they were tasked with building the trucks that the US army took to France with them in WW I. At the end of hostilities, unlike what we do today (leave stuff in country) the trucks were returned to the US. Thier presence back here killed demand, and the company could not be profitable trying to compete against their own products being sold by the Govt at fire sale discounts.

I worked in a factory in Alma that was the original ***embly plant for Republic Trucks. There was a frame up in the rafters from one of the trucks used to support the roof. The building was demolished a few years ago. There are also a few Republic trucks in the the area around here.

I'm pretty sure there is an unrestored Republic truck at the Rhinebeck Fairgrounds in NY. Very cool indeed!
