...just ran across this poster in a used book I bought at our local library book sale,...never saw the movie but the dragsters on the poster caught my eye. Has anyone seen the movie, is the dragstrip part any good? I know most of these movies were pretty hoakie.
Typical Frankie & Annette movie but the drags are cool. Ivo, Dean Jeffries Manta Ray and lots of other cool iron.
Your poster is worth about $100-$150 depending on the condition. Great score! I dig the surf music in all the movies and the kids look like they are having fun. Many years later (late 70's early 80's) I was camped out on the same beaches. Zuma and County Line is where most of the outdoor action was filmed.
That is my very favorite movie as far as older car flicks! Where else have you seen Ivo's four-engine Buick run? Not to mention Dean Jeffries Manta Ray, and more famous and cool FED's than you can shake a stick at, all in color! Buy it, rent it, tape it off late nite TV, do what you gotta do to see it, it's worth it!
Cool find.Phil Sauers the guy that owned my 51 Merc back in the 50's supplied all the surfboards for those movies. He owned Inland Surf Shop and had a line of surfboards "Boards by Phil" surfboards to the stars.
Just on the box here in Perth last weekend, average movie but great Cars & Rails. $100.00 for a hemi rail that needed work, yeah baby!!!
