my 2 door 50 chevy still has the leaf's with 4" inch blocks....my plates that the u bolts go through has provisions for a sway bar....but it seems a panard would or could be a cheaper way to do the same thing??????? any thoughts ???? thanks in advance
They do totally different things. A sway bar limits body roll. A panhard bar stops side to side movement of the rear end under the body.
'Sway' bar is the wrong term. Anti-roll bar is far, far more correct. A Panhard - or a Watts - controls lateral movement of the axle under the car. A 'sway' bar acts to resist body roll. Two totally different things. And yes, one or the other or both are often used on leafspring suspensions, but if you're running around in a '50 Chevy with 4in lowering blocks and you haven't hit a bunch of other performance stumbling blocks (like wheel hop, lack of wheel travel, lateral grip limitations, etc.) you're likely not the kind of driver that needs either.
