I just got my side trim back from the polisher and got it back on. The 50s Packard wheelcovers aren't done yet so I decided to put the flying saucers on. What do ya think .... should I leave um on
WOW! I can't believe thats the same car you got from here! looks way cool! as for the caps, those do look nice but i'd like to see the others on there too to compare 'em.. I wouldn't worry about these looking bad though.. they don't to me. clean and simple look.
Yea it does look a little different doesn't it The guy I bought it from would probably **** if he saw it now
What do I think? I think that car gives me wood, that's what I think! I'd like to see before pics (I don't think I saw them) if you have them. Oh, and I think the wheels look fine as they are.
He would probably **** if he drove it, with that new flathead in it. Car looks great Rich and those caps look good on it but I would try playing with the look by using different covers, dog dish caps, or even some spiders.
They look great....also, I digs the little standard side-moldings on the front fenders. Makes it look more custom than the "deluxe" or "Custom" side trim.
looks very nice rich...is that going to be making a trip to flint on tomorrow for the car show??? i'd like to see it in person.
Just like how a beautiful woman can look great in almost any dress, that fine shoebox will look sweeeet with ANY wheel cover. Nice ride!
I like it,,,it turned out nice.....I cant wait to see it w/the Packards tho.... I showed the guy you bought it from some pics of it after you painted it,,,he didnt understand it....lolol
Rocky, That was my thought too. Besides I don't have the clips to put the original ones back on Kr***z painted um for me just in case I want to try them though. Kritz, No it won't be at Sloan today but I'll be there in the sedan. Save me parking spot if you can. Gus, I was thinking of dog dishes and spiders too but I had just taken these off the sedan so I thought I'd try them. Yea I about doubled the horsepower in that thing. It's a LOT more fun now Tony, So he saw the changes I did. I hope he wasn't too bummed out I didn't lie to him about what I intended to do. He REALLY loved that car though. He and his wife actually cried when it got loaded on in the trailer. BUT he has the $$$$ and I've the car
Looks great Rich....why don't you try the 22's with the forklift tires from your Hummer on it???.....If not, I've got some worn out snow tires on white wagon wheels that would ROCK!!!.........actually I think it's done.
Man, that has to be the nicest 50 I've seen in a looonnng time! I never was too partial to those wheel covers though and I don't remember what the Packard covers look like. IMHO the four bar Lancer covers would really look killer on that and still keep that smooth mild custom look. Ya just gotta love a mild custom like that one!!
av8jon, I've got a set of lancers that I got from Donzie. I also was thinking they would look good on Rich's car. If we get a chance we'll put them on and take a picture. Frank
that is a really cool looking car. Someone I would picture sitting in a high school parking lot back in the day. Its convertibles like yours that makes me want to get a drop top.
I don't get it. There is NOTHING tacky or weird about that car that could make the previous owner upset about what you've done with it. The car is gorgeous. So please explain what you guys mean...
Rich, you know I ALWAYS have an opinion. I really like those 'caps.....on the sedan. I don't really think they fit the droptop as well. The sedan has more of a mild custom look and the 'caps work. The c'vert is a little more stock looking and I think the Packard 'caps better suit it. The cool thing is that you have the best of both worlds with those cars.
Rich: I like the look of those caps. Are the Packard caps you're referring to the ones that look like a domed dogdish with a smooth wide beauty ring but are actually one piece or are those earlier Packard? My two cents(or no sense):I would opt for the original 49 dog dish caps with the Ford in a circle with the letters painted in to match the car and a set of ribbed beauty rings(ala early Ford/Merc)with a maroon stripe on each rib.If they didn't go out far enough on the rim edge,I'd run a red stripe around it too.
