I have a thread out at this time and it seems to me that some on the site condone theft of parts from cars that are not for sale. If you find a car that the owner has said the car is not for sale than in my eyes you are to respect his wishes whether you think hes nuts or not theft is theft no mater how justfied you think you might be. I used to belong to a club of service station and gas collectables and one of the guys used to remove old signs from old stations at nite and thought he was justified in doing so because he appreciated them more than the owner did. Call me an ass but I told the rest of the club and most didnt really care so I quit if I could prove he was stealing them I would have called the cops and had him prosecuted like the dirty piece of shit he is.

  2. AMEN!

think of it as if your stuff was stolen.........You and I know whats right and whats wrong.
Stealing is wrong and those who "justify":( their crimes are just goddamned lying sacks of shit.

  3. Theft is theft period, no matter what the size, value etc.. of what is stolen. If its not yours and you do not have permission to "take" stuff off it, leave it alone.....I have had people tell me stories that they think are cool about how they got this or that item or part that they "found", and I've told them that they are plain old "f*&#ed" cause you can't justify stealing to me.....just my two cents

WOW! Have we sunk so low that we have to explain what is right and wrong to people over the age of 3? Whatever the item is, if it is on someone elses property it is theirs, stealing it is wrong.

    I don't waste my time with 911...
I like .44 better. People have been known to just disappear in the woods around here.
But that's okay... bears and eagles need to eat, too.

along time ago (like 15 years ago) i had a 68 camaro,,i drove it all through H.S.,,it was primered and my graduation present was to have it painted at Park Auto Bake for $360.00,,,honestly,,i dont know how they did it,,but that paint job was a killer paint job...

..ANYWAYS...sorry for the derailment..but what i was getting at was,,,i used to drive up whittier blvd. ever day on my way to school...,,one day i spotted a 68 camaro sitting on the side of the road in front of this motel, real clean and an old original car, everyday on my way to school for atleast two weeks i passed by this same car...sitting in the same spot,,used to be in LA if a car sat like that it was on its way to being impounded,,main street,,etc,,,,,,, i needed a right hdlmp bezel really bad,,and this car was getting leaves under it and was on the verge of being towed off,,,

...so,one day i whipped it in and backed up and pulled the bezel off,,,i put it on that night and on the way to school the next day i pulled up to the stop light ,when i took off i heard a CRUNCH..it was the bezel,,,,it was weird,,it just POPPED off by its self...

..ever since then i have NEVER taken a part off a car that didint belong to me,,,BAD CAR-MA!!!!

  9. A pal of mine is Scottish, 300 pounds and 6foot3, he throws the caber and the hammer in the highland games for shits and grinns. He also has a 120 pound Rhodesian Ridgeback. One night the dog started growling towards the backyard. Mark went out with Samson the dog and caught a guy hiding under the deck next to his sons stored Chevelle, the hood was off. Samson went for a shrub and came up with the guys partners balls in teeth, still attached but in peril. Mark threatened them with death told Samson to pull. Then told them to get the fuck off his property. I happen to know who the lowlifes are and when I am at a swapmeet with Mark, they ALWAYS duck him!!!!!!!!!!!! I wish Samson would have gotten medieval!

i know where there are several cars within a mile of me...sitting unsupervised...one has a bunch of speed parts on it, the other is all original...both have lots of good stuff that could be "lifted" without any suspiscion being raised...
but.....i know that if these were mine, i would not want some hoodlum swiping my shit.
and .....i don't want the bad mojo that will undoubtably go with these "hot" parts. i can just see it now...local hotrodder killed when rare valvecover explodes, passes through firewall and severs jugular vein.

if it is something that i really want, yet cant afford...i suppose i'm not meant to have it. and i'm not gonna become a theif just to get something i want.

thieves suck. have two cars now that i have proberly bought. amazingly the worst part of these two cars is trying to find the parts that someone has removed from them. pisses me off. however the cars will live, someone must end this evil threat.

All have mirrored this above^^^ Bu thats theft. Guys like that give all of us a bad name. when we approach a guy about who knows what and he says no, well you resect that cause its his, and he makes the calls.

Jesus help us in through these times of moral eroding that such a question would arise.

There's not too many open fields around San Diego, and even fewer rusting hulks laying around but I have had some dealings on ebay with folks who were pulling parts from cars on someone else's property. The only way I found out about this practice was that I won a bid for some rear fenders for a 35 coupe and then the guy told me he couldn't get them because the owner of the property ran his ass off when he went out to remove the fenders from the car. I found it hard to believe that people would actually steal parts off cars that were on other people's property but I guess some folks will do most anything for a quick buck.

I live in the country. Way out in the sticks. There is a shotgun or rifle by every door and a fully charged portable spotlight in my bedroom ( Sounds kinky, huh!) along with my .357. And my 2 dogs bark at everything so I'm up at night regularly dispatching skunks, coyotes, wild hogs, etc. So far I haven't had a problem with cars or parts, I don't honestly don't know if I could shoot someone in a non life threatening situation but I sure as hell could scare the shit out of them.
Theives are scum. Got hit bad when we were building the house, bastard was out of jail before I replaced all my tools.

Hey, maybe we should take his stuff. we can justify it by saying we appreciate it more than he does.

  21. this post is a no brainer....so tell us who is the theif ??? isnt that the meat and potatos here... or is this a secret message to your former club members ??? as the hamb turns drama

  22. If you are talking about like, an XYZ motor that is tucked into the back of some JKL make car, in pieces, and has been there so long trees are now 25 ft tall and the dog you saw when you visited the first time has to be in doggy heaven - plus that kids were able to smash the shit out of the car when the dog was still there?

Do whatever you want cause that bastard's never gonna know and whatever you take would otherwise be scrapped when the guy dies finally anyhow.

Otherwise? Stealing is wrong. Someone may have sentimental value attached to that car or parts thereof and call the cops and they'll find you. Then you are screwed, probably in more ways than one if you land in jail.

I personally would never steal anything that didn't belong to me but I can see an argument for the other side, so to speak.

What I'm thinking of is a car that has been "abandoned" in situ by its owner and is being destroyed by time and nature. One could conceivably argue that one was serving the public good by "rescuing" this piece of automotive history for the public good. The idea that sparked this slippery slope was the Supreme Court decision this past week on "public use" and eminent domain. I live in a section of town with a very strong historical preservation emphasis, and you can't even paint your house without a permit. You especially can't just let the house go to seed. So why not cars too? Maybe if we set up a historical preservation society, we could get away with it?! Call it "The Hot Rod Rescue Society"! :p

But if it's just me, a beehive filter and a dark night, I'm going home alone. Momma didn't raise no pillaging Golden Horde.

if someone really needed something of mine all they would have to do is ask, i am hardly attached to anything, if they really needed it i would probably let em have it. however, dont steal my shit. i work for a living like i am sure most of us do. i have had my tools stolen out of my welding truck at least three times, no matter how i try to secure them. this not only steals my tools it steals my livelihood. if i ever catch the fucking asshole, they will definately be sucking on the heavy end of the hickory axe handle i keep in the truck (just in case). like i said if you need something ask, otherwise you will, eventually, get what you deserve. this should be simple i assume we are all over the age of 2.

Bullshit. I have cars in my parking lot that got pulled from junk yards, and the grass can grow two feet high in a matter of a few weeks. To the average thief trying to justify taking stuff from me, it'd look like the car was there forever.

Just because the guy "will never know" that makes it OK? If I was a stock broker and I was stealing money from my investors, but they "will never know" about it, that makes it OK? Stay away from my shit.

If there's an abandoned car somewhere, find out who owns the property and ask if you can have/buy it. Plot maps are availible at your local City Hall. If they say no, stay the fuck away from it.

And to compare stealing parts from abandoned cars with historical preservation? Give me a break. No one's going to go for that, especially if you're going to be building a hot rod with the car/parts.

It's sad that this is even a topic of debate.
