Re: pics in post 237. It looks like you have some cloth wires held in with a metal hold-down - they need grommets of some type, or vibration will wear through the wires. Even smooth metal will eventually wear on through. Other places you use a metal hold-down on the cloth wire housing, that is fine, so you could maybe just use a bigger hold-down on the end of the housing, not on the wires themselves.

A wrap of old inner-tube material (just a hair wider than the metal hold-down) is traditional on wires, and a bunch of other things would work too.

Ahhh, gotcha. Yes, I need to do a little more clean up on em and will weld the holes up a little so no slippage can occure.

Well, had a couple steps backwards tonight. There was a steel plug in one of the temp sending unit holes in one of the heads. It was on the p***enger side at the rear. I want to run duel temp gauges and it bugged me that this plug was there. I had tried to remove it before but it would not budge. It has a square shank and was starting to round.

Now, I could have just swapped heads side for side and forgot about it but I decided to do it the hard way. I started off by drilling a hole in the center of the plug, starting small and going larger. Got that done and still no budge so I welded a nut no the head of the plug and that cracked it loose. Got it out and have a couple stripped threads and also a small crack that needs fixed. Man, I wish I could TIG :(

That ****s, dude. Nothing like breaking something to get your spirits down. I am trying to get my dad's 33 3 window ready for the Roundup. I was installing the brand new tempered side gl*** and yep, bumped it off of my work bench and watched it fall and crack.

I just got up and walked inside and quit. I didn't go back in my shop for two days. Don't let it get you down and keep on trucking!!!

Thanks, yeah it ****s but not a big deal. My friend John has a tig, I think I'm gonna have him just fill the hole. It is not needed and would be a ton easier then dealing with junk threads that don't seal.

It's coming along great Chris! Keep at it, there are setbacks in a hot rod build. Hopefully it will be smooth from here

Started working on the steering set up tonight. I heated and bent my steering hoop down a little. Measured how long my drag link and tie rod gotta be, my friend Darrell is going to help me make them as I do not have the L and R taps to do so.

I am using a later pitman arm that has a tapered hole at the bottom, not a made on ball. The pitman arms I have have the 4 wider grooves clocked in a different position. Did Ford make a pitman arm with the grooves the same as 32-34?

    Heres what I have:

    1932-1934

    The later one

Yep, i just take my die grinder with a 1/4 carbide bur and grind out the wide splines on the pitman arm.

Loser not looser. Looser is not firmly or tightly fixed in place. :D

I forgot you got that entire chromed front end from Speedway. That Mr. Roadster makes a nice piece. Awesome!

No, I have a junk spindle that I use in a vise to bend these and I let em naturally cool...you can see the spindle in the vise between the pickup and roadster. Also gonna built a support to weld on it. And no matter how big my garage is, I will fill it with garbage :D
