No, Thanks to H.A.M.B for the opportunity to get this fragmented Hot Rod sub culture group together... As warped and twisted as we are, we still need a place to gather and show love...

A lurker and dragger here. Don't ask why but I left so cal 5 yrs ago and landed on the banks of the mighty Miss. A dragger in the sense that I dragged the sheet metal for my most beautiful '46 chev cab over along. It occupies a special place in my head and my garage. I am just beginning to become involved with it again. I want it to be reborn as a street rod rat p/u,, probably starting with an astro van ch***is. I want it low and ruff looking, but a driver. I have seen Koos' truck evolve and I am very impressed with the subtle sophistication of his work and that of many others that share this board. I owe all of you a debt of gra***ude for giving me the confidence (and great advice) to follow my instincts with not much more than p***sion and a few acquired skills. Today I made some patch panels for the area under the fender steps, probably the worst area besides the floor which will be addressed later after the frame arrives. I found the truck on a rice farm in the Sacramento valley years ago.

    Question?

Are these the big trucks that Ford put the 534" MEL gas engine in back then?

  20. I'm in on this deal too :).

I have a '47 Ford that still has the flathead in it. Plan is to make a vintage race car ramp truck.

We'll see. Maybe this'll motivate me.

    Hi Folks,
I haven't been on this board for years. I just did a Google search on COEs and this link turned up. Before I get into a lengthy post I thought I'd first test the water here and see if it's worth the time. I'm thinking of putting a COE cab on the ch***is of my 1993 E-350 long WB diesel van. It was originally slated to go to an ambulance conversion company but the deal fell through and I bought it new from a dealer back in '93. I don't have a cab or a line on one yet. I knew where a '54 Ford was over a year ago but I don't know if it's still available. If I can't find that one I need to start looking for one. I'm in SE Ohio and I do a lot of car and truck transporting between here to the Atlanta area. If I get any response to this post I'll elaborate on my project ides. Now it's only a dream but I'd like to find a cab. I don't need a ***le or the rolling ch***is, just a cab I can use and restore. I'm thinking 50's or older Ford or International. Any and all help and suggestions appreciated.

    Later...

    Dave

    Hi again,
I just got a PM from Pug Man welcoming me back after so long an absence. Thanks Man... I was hoping to see some response to my post but it appears that the COE NATION is a very small one at best, so it seems I am going to have to be patient. Leave it to me to me to latch onto something rare that hardly anyone is interested in. I guess COEs are like my son says, "Only a face a mother could love..." So, for now I'll just wait for some response and now I'm off to go look at a '55 Studebaker that needs a home. BTW, do we have a discussion about Studebakers here?

    Later Folks...

    Hi Folks,
One of the members asked me to join the group and start a build thread. That might be a bit difficult for me as I have a board of my own going that is pretty much dedicated to doing build threads and I have two of them going over there now. If I can figure a way to add to an extra one here without taking too much time I will do it. At this point I'm not even sure what it takes to get one going here. Where I currently have my build threads going we make them stickys and that keeps them all at the top I'll let you folks be the judge Check out http://darksidersrealm.forumotion.com/t433-another-coe-project and http://darksidersrealm.forumotion.com/t204-first-53-build-thread. My '54 COE build thread is just getting started and it probably would not be too hard to get something going here. I'll throw in two pictures here that pretty much show my start and progress.

So, there you have it. Where I started and where I am now. I'm still collecting pieces. I have new cab corners and conventional cab rockers that I can cut down to fit. I got an expensive gl*** polishing kit from Eastwood and spent about 4 hours polishing the scratches out of the windshield. It looks pretty good now. I'll take it out, wrap it in a biug comforter with tape around it and store it with my other windshields. Next I'm cutting out all the rusty stuff and satrt welding in the new steel. At some point I'll be sending it out to the abrasive blasters and then it's epoxy primer. I have doors coming from Phoenix and I'm looking for a better hood than I have. I'd also like to find some better fenders. Hopefully it will sometime find a home on a diesel rolling ch***is with dual rear wheels and 4WD. When I come to an imp***e I'll store it while I look for parts and get back on my '53 F-100. That's about all I have for now.

    Hi folks,
Just a quick update here... Worked all this weekend on gutting out old rust and test fitting some new oarts. There are no COE cab specific parts for my '54 so I can only get and use parts for the conventional cabs, That limits me to cab corners, inside cab corners, modifying the conventional rockers and the rear half of the floor pan whhich I have or have on order. I hiope to post some pictures and maybe a video tonight. I gotta go teach school for today but I'll be back at it tonight.

    Later Folks...
