First re-introduce myself to open this topic with. I'm into the '50 scene for a long time, loving the pre 50's music up to about '56,the furniture ,clothings, dancing and everything.Started with a '57 Chevy belair when I was 19 years old, this used to be a s****heapcar, by that time there where hardly no american cars that survived, left in this country so this was the one for me(kinda like Arny of the Cristine movie, didn't look like him personally).Still own this car, over 23 years now. It's the picture of the baby blue. At that time this was in my opinion Rock 'n Roll and with the knowledge of cars this was my build. Always kept it the way I build it at this young age,I'm working on this car now to change the style into a mild Kustom.Own some more cars now as I wil show in some pictures. Hopefully you guys will enjoy the topic of my last project.I'm not really update with my pictures but better work on the car instead of figting the damn @#*! computer to get 'em on. BUT NOW THE ITEM OF THE TOPIC: it was a 1957 Chevy "cheapy" 4 door that was ***ambled on the GM plant in Belgium (Europe).Bought the car actually to part out to replace some of the homeimprovedparts on my babyblue Bel air. But didn't used anything for that car a put it away in the barn.It was stored there for abot 8 years and now I needed the space ,but it was in bananaboxes so I had to put it up to get space again cause I hardly couldn't roll the ch***is.That's were it all started: that much work on a moredoor! See and witness what happened next! started this all januari 02 2012
Tried to put some of the detailed pictures of the doorstretch etc.etc. but they are on a SD card that won't work on this ol'computer.Have to ask a computer dude to help me out. Will make some more pictures tomorrow cause gonna fix some welding. p.s. so won't be in church tomorrow.
You finally got the pictures uploaded! I like what you've done with the metal work so far, awesome job. Great welding! Subscribed.
when I look to a lot of late fifties cars I personally don't like the proportions of the roof to the body, and the rear with the tailfins not to the p***enger compartment. The real wrong ones are the 4 door sedans. So I like to let it look the right way,not as extreme as possible,it has to look like the car could be build as productioncar in era'59.A bit like the conceptcars of that time. It's still not the car that is most favourite to build into full Kustom but will give it a try...................................
Build a 1958 BIG BULKY FATBUICK think one of the ugliest cars if were talking about proportions into a kustom will give a small impression,it's the car of a friend of mine.Did the design and consruction/welding for him and the pinstriping.
