howdy gents, so the restoration slowly marches on, 4 yr delay thanks to divorce. so tis better to dip the metal in the tank and risk pitting or blast and risk heat and possibly missing the rust in those hard to reach areas..? I know this could devolve into chocolate rules/ chocolate ****s vanilla rules thing but really need some info that is fact based and helpful, for the record I like choc. vanilla twist with the caramel dip, but I digress. for the curious 1947 wd21 flatbed dually, with all factory options.I'm restoring it so I can sell it and then afford to build a nice hotrod.
My method; Chemical strip outer surface(Aircraft brand). Clean and neutralize, plastic media blast edges and anything missed with the chemical (or skip the chemical and go straight to plastic blast, if you dont like the mess) Green sand blast jambs floors and inner structure. I then soak the seams not taken apart with sem rust converter and blast again with green sand. Lots of ways to do it. this works for me with no problems down the road.
