where can I find a 12 volt motor for my arvin heater out of a 1940 gmc? I tried chevy`s of the 40`s and the one they have is too long
Try Sacramento Vintage Ford, Bob Drake or C&G Ford Parts. When I set mine up I used a voltage reducer.
I run a ceramic voltage drop on mine, been working good for 10 years. The rheostat type of heater switch is what I use, I just don't run it on high position.
You might try looking at some engine cooling fan motors. Most are of a thin design and you might be able to adapt one.
Used to be if you went to a real auto parts store, and looked in their air conditioning parts catalog (by Everco or Four Seasons or whatever) they have a list of universal blower motors, listed by size, shaft size, voltage, speed, direction of rotation, etc. Then you find one that will fit, and order it.
i`ll give that a try squirrl seems like anymore if the kid at the counter cant punch a newer make and model in the computer you`r screwed
Like squirrl said, Take it out ,and take it with you to the auto parts house and just match it up. Also heard of people using a fan out of a computer tower, they are 12 v too. Russ
Try taking a look at a NAPA Balkamp # 655-1022 . It has a short body length of 3.75" from the shaft to the tip of the motor.
