Wow, nice bird! That Monogram '58 still holds up well 50-plus years later.

Thanks, but my T-bird is actually based on an original AMT '59 3-in-1 kit with repro AMT '58 bumpers. In addition to being the more universal 1/25th scale, AMT's Squarebirds are more accurate than the Monogram 1/24th '58. The Monogram kit is more detailed but has a number of issues with the overall shape of its body I could never get past, though I have used it as a parts kit many times.

    Froghawk! Looking good!

Started working on a '37 Chevy a couple of weeks ago. I modified the kit suspension by adding lowing blocks & de-arching the rear springs, & shortening & de-arching the front springs. The frame was channeled a scale inch or so at the front & a little less at the rear. '39 Chevy bumpers mounted on shortened bumper brackets. Lowered headlights. Fender skirt made from some flat piece of plastic found in the kit. The top will be chopped, but I need to work out exactly what I'll do.

I also finally glued on the side trim on the '50 Fleetline. After the glue sets a couple of days I'll cut the trim at the door lines. Interior parts are getting the final coats of primer before color. Last weekend, I permanently glued in the garnish & interior door moldings on the '49 Merc.

    Thanks, Steve!

The Fleetline looks terrific with that Packard-style side trim and and the Chevy's looking real promising with that stance dialed in. I know you're still at mock-up stage but are you going to give the skirts a little curve along the bottom edge? Maybe line the front corner up with bottom of the running board and curve the edge up to meet the rear corner of the skirt where it is now?

Incredible! Anywhere to see more of your stuff??? It would be neat to see what you could do with a real car...

Awesome job on the '37 Steve!!!

I'll be curious to see what you decide on the top chopping.
FWIW...my vote would be 3" and keep the quarter windows!!:D

    Thanks, guys.

Froghawk, the skirt needs lots of work, this was just something to cover the wheel opening to get started. I taped it in place from the inside & the position was a little too high. The whole shape & thickness will probably be redesigned. Running boards need to be blended into the fenders & rounded a bit.

Shoebox150, you can see stuff that I'm working on here: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Steve-Boutte-Kustoms/136565936448460 & finished cars here:http://www.sbkustoms.com

Yeah, Keith, I may very well end up doing that. I know it worked well on one particular car I've seen.;)
