Looks like an aftermarket approximation of a '56 DeSoto to me.

  3. Thanks, you think they may be like an aftermarket accessory? I looked online at some '56 Desoto wheel covers and they don't really look the same. I have exhausted the internet and can't find anything. This is driving me nuts:(

Agreed on aftermarket.......also similar to '53 Buick, but they aren't OEM anything.

since nobody can ID them, you can just make something up. 56 Henway sounds good to me.

Its your story, the fish can be as big as you want it to be Haha!!!

Looks kinda like a crown.... Imperial?

  10. Hahahaha, the mystery is really gettin' to me though:D

That was my first though. Looked at all the Hubcap sites under Imperial and all the other Mopar stuff and couldn't find anything similar.

if your not gonna sell em,who cares? seriously don't get trapped in the 50's only -'sand trap of death' i really don't it will matter in the end-as long as it looks good & your happy with the finished product,if you can't get past the year thing-their 1956 after market caps-----there problem solved.
P/S they do look like late 50's catalog caps!

  14. I know what your saying. Still am curious though. Don't tell me you have never bought a car and the owner didn't know what engine it had. Didn't you then re-search the casting numbers to find out?

I would just really like to know. Also one is beat to ****. If I were to run them I would need to get another. That's another reason I want to know.

i understand what your saying,if i get time i will dig through 50+years of catalogs & adds,i don't think you'll find a replacement cap, since no one really thought about hording cap back in the day, except maybe my grandpa who had 1000's of cap when he p***ed-they were stolen shorty after his death & recycled--chuck

  17. Didn't want to start anything here. Just thought with the wealth and knowledge on the HAMB someone would know. I don't expect anyone to do extensive research or anything. Just if someone knew of the top of their head that would be rad!

    I was just curious:D

    Mitch,

I was just giving you a good natured nudge.....no offense intended

Whether or not you trust the accuracy of the answer(s) you received is, of course, up to you.

  19. Thanks, It's all good my HAMB brother;) I'm sure after going to enough car shows with my car, someone will eventually recognize them.

My best guess is they are off a 1954 Monarch, which is a Canadian Mercury. Good luck finding a match.

When I looked when you first posted, I thought that the stamping on those stainless covers was just too good to be aftermarket,,,,but the emblem did look a bit chinsey. :)

Mitch........Looks like I owe you an apology........I felt certain these caps were aftermarket, and you were just being too stubborn to accept that "fact"

Good for you for hangin' tough :D. ......and I learned a lesson here

Best wishes for finding a match for the dinged one.....

  26. I was not trying to deny the fact. I'm retarded when it comes to this ****. I had no idea if they were aftermarket or factory. I had never seen them before though. Rad, that I found out though. No apologies needed brother:cool:

  28. Thanks, Monarchs are rad! I'm pretty stoked to have these. My car will be sitting pretty low in the back w/ skirts. Hopefully you wont be able to see the damaged one.
