I purchased this car with a fiberglass grill shell with 4 headlights, can anyone ID the grill shell ? Who made them? Did JC Whitney sell them? Thanks bill <fieldset class="fieldset"> <legend>Attached Thumbnails</legend> </fieldset>
I don't know. You have a lot of good stuff on that car; 32 chassis and maybe an orig 32 heavy axle, early sbc stuff too. but...I can't make out if the rear hairpins are mounted as a split bone or if they are some sort of articulated deal. If both rear "ears" of each rear hairpin are bolted solid to a bracket, welded to a conventional rear end axle tube...this won't work for long. There is a thread up tonight about Rear Wishone Tech....with the same problem. click here; http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=671263
I believe both JC and Almquist sold versions of this design. Your's doesn't look like what I remember seeing advertised which had more of a '32 styled grill opening. Possibly your's is a modified version of the aftermarket piece.
There's an AMT '32 Ford kit that came with a grille like that, too - it was made to take an Edsel grille. For some reason it only came in the 2-door sedan releases. I'd run one if I had it, I like them.
