I have a dumb question, I bought a headlight bucket for my 36' dodge truck and didn't know they made a steel and br*** version? What is the difference between the two, the only thing I can think of is the br*** was used for Chrome?
Is the br*** correct for the year? Should I find another br*** or steel one? Can anyone shed some light on this?

  2. Do you have one of each for comparison? It'd be worth posting some pics to help figure things out.

On a personal note... would you happen to have an extra front axle that you're dying to get rid of :)?

I did not know there were br*** ones, I'd like to know if the two look identical otherwise?

I will have to look closer at mine (36) when I get home tonight.

Never saw a br*** bucket on a '36 Dodge car or truck. I think you have something else there. We definitely need photos.

Br*** would certainly make a better base for a chrome plating job.

Me neither. Mine had rusted out steel ones on it when I found it, and swap meet replacements are steel also. But I've seen some early Dodges with chrome headlight buckets, maybe those were br***?

Here are some pics, the br*** and steel unit both have the same pat. # 1945309, but the pat. # on the br*** unit is next to the mounting hole and the steel is on the opposite side next to the Riteway stamp. They both have the Riteway stamp also.

The lamp and trim brackets are in different locations also? I dont know if that makes a difference? The diamater and length are the same on both buckets. To Mac the Yankee Yes I have another front axle, but here is another question, I have lugnuts on the rear and lugbolts on the front of my truck now, the spare axle I have is a lugnut, which one is correct?

Original '36 Dodge would have lug bolts front & rear.

Either one is not correct, the bases mount to the side of the radiator shroud? What do yours look like?

My bases look the same as yours, but the base that came off of the br*** unit is smaller, car? I also have the chrome trim that back's the base and the grommets but not on yet waiting for paint. Not sure what you mean by lug bolts front and rear, my bases have 3 bolts holding them on to the shroud?
