    Hi!
I have a 30 coupe (see pic) and I am upgrading the front brakes, I have found a front axle from a 40 Ford Car and would like to use the brakes on my 30.

My question to you guys is.....does the spindles fit a 30 axle so that I can install 40 brakes, or do I need to do something first...? Help!

    Thanks!! Andy

Should fit but you may have to shim between axel and spindle .:)

i used my '31 spindels. the holes were a little off on the backing plates, so i drilled them out a little, and welded shut what i didn't use

Scroll down. They give you kingpin diameter for each axle. You need to run the kingpin for the spindle you choose to use.

But yes, they are both .8125" in diameter. Chances are they are different lenghts.

There is TONS of info on here for this swap and others. Give the search function a whirl. You can also use Google to search this forum by typing whatever it is you want to search into Google and typing :jalopyjournal after it. Try it! It works great!

What a worthless post. I'm sure he is aware of it. Post something worthwhile almighty "Senior Member"...

Not really. If he read the guidelines before signing up, he would have no clue that people get so upset about two words.

Maybe you should PM him and give him some worthwhile advice.

Beau the HAMB is not about rat rods. Delinquents, ha ha ha no ****. You make me laugh. Rat rods and Delinquents, made for each other. Is that where they filmed "Fargo"? Go tune up your snow mobile. Traditional Rods & Customs, all else peel off.

I'm well aware of how the place works and our club strays far from RR's. Just because we are young doesn't make us stupid.

I have no snowmobile to tune up. No snow this year.

Fargo is in North Dakota, not Minnesota. There are also some great car clubs up there.

Thanks for all help and tip about the front brakes, I will give it a try this week and fit 40 brakes on my 30 axle using 40 kingpins. If this work you guys have made my day!
I am sorry if I upset someone with my username, and sure was not out to start a war between you guys. And to discuss if a Rat Rod is the same as a Hot Rod, but without paint is not worthy our time spent :) Nor if Hot Rod culture is better representet by a car put together by owner with used parts from newer models to make it faster and better OR with a plastic body put together in a top dollar shop with after market frames and drivelines for $100 000 dollars.....

I wish you all a wounderful day, keep thoose wrenches going and build cars to drive...not to be put on a trailer :)
