    Hi

I have a 64 fairlane I am going to be updating the brakes and suspension on. I am kinda of newbie as far as updating an older system like this so bear with me if my questions seem a bit naieve.

I am thinking of using a front drum to disc granada swap like this one:

And using a complete front and rear suspension kit like this one:

The cost seems reasonable and would give me some peace of mind as far as safety goes knowing the components are new.

Any thoughts on these systems? Thanks in advance:D

The kit looks very complete. Make sure the car has an unrusted bottom, and depending on the HP level, you may be advised to install some frame work connecting the rear to the front. Its not hard, but is time consuming.

I was in fact going to install some subframe connections. Is it better to bolt them on or weld them on?
I am lucky there is minimal rust.

Bolt in or weld in? Depends on your skill level and shop. Welding is very strong if done right and cant vibrate loose like bolts.

Well, it's just a I6 170, and I am going to keep it a six.
I do have access to a shop (family member), so welding them is an option.

You can also upgrade to a coil-over front suspension. This would give you modern suspension with adjustability. Check MPR Races Cars web site or just call Mike and ask about the conversion. It'll be what I'm doing.

    How bout some pix??

I have a set of Grenada spindles, rotors, and calipers that I just pulled form a donor car a few weeks ago. Let me know if interested. I used that same set up on my 63 Fairlane.

Did you buy new spindles? or are those just the old ones cleaned up? Also, it looks like you have some new control arms, etc. did you use a kit or something else? How do you like it?

Those are the factory V8 spindles. I took my original upper and lower control and had them power coated low gloss black. Then i painted them with cast blast to get the dipped in black paint effect. I also installed all new bushings and ball joints from KANTER suspension. I really liked it, it stopped great. I sold the car about 5 months ago to a guy in Georgia who has it now.

join the Fairlane club of America, most all your Fairlane questions will be answered... in fact there was an article on a new disc swaps that is on the cheap, using your original spindles and hubs. It's from scarebird economy disc kit.
As far as a swaybar kit, there is seller on ebay that makes matched sets with the brackets for about 300.00, get the thicker diameter I think 1", it makes all the difference.
