I live just down the road from New Albany, in New Salisbury. If you're not working Friday night, go out to Bearno's Pizza Floyd Knobs location...not out State Street, but via I-64 to the 119 exit, right at the first light. Great pizza, and acoustic cover band CMN is playing.

You'll be in the right place when the NSRA Street Rod Nats come to town the first weekend in August. The $8 to park at the fairgrounds sux, but get a Kroger card if you don't already have one and save a couple of bux by buying your tix at Kroger...UNLESS you're gonna be a participant.

Georgetown Drive-In Theater has a cruise night every summer...watch for the promos. Jackson's Seafood on West Main has the best non-franchise fish sandwich in New Albany. Best Louisville area seafood restaurant, hands down, is Mike Linnig's, out on Cane Run Road off Dixie Highway. It ain't cheap, but it's good. [DON'T take the Cane Run exit off 264; take the Dixie Highway/Fort Knox exit, take Dixie Highway south about 7 miles, then take a right on Johnsontown Road, and follow that until you cross Greenbelt Highway, where Johnsontown Rd. turns into Cane Run.] Mike's usually has a rod weekend every month in the summer, so it's a chance to see some sharp cars and talk to their owners as well. And THEY might be able to answer your other questions better than I can.

Thanks everyone, originally I'm from Cincinnati did live in Detroit for a brief minute. My pops is comin down Saturday and we are going to hit up Carl Casper. Hopefully I can find some guys to meet, find some places to get some parts and see some cars. I already have a list of parts I need for both of my rods. But hopefully I can find those on the boards here.

I wouldn't waste my time or money going to the Carl Casper show unless you want to see soap opera stars, hopping low riders and new cars. It's not a HAMB friendly event thats for sure. Save your money.

  12. Yep, that place rocks. I was born and raised in Louisville, and we used to go there all the time as a kid. Great memories sitting on the picnic tables out back chowing down on them fish sammiches.

That's too bad. The Carl Casper show used to be a lot of fun in the '70s and '80s. We also used to go to some cool shows at Joe Creason Park and also at Iroquois Park. Louisville used to be a hotbed for cool cars. Not sure if it's that way anymore. I went into the Air Force in '81, and haven't lived there since. I miss Spring and Fall back there, but you can have the muggy Summers and the freezing-ass Winters.
