Last years Edelbrock catalog featured a pair of reproduction Y Block tri power manifolds including the 573. Of course if you tried to order one they were NOT available and we were told on calling them that they were being released in early 2012. Well, the 2012 Edelbrock catalog is out and I looked hard and could not find these manifolds listed. Unless I missed them it seems they are gone and will still not be available. Thanks Edelbrock Thanks a lot.
Wait for the "supplement". Companies have done that quite a few times. Plus, that 2012 catalog may have been done up late last year.
It's still early, there are 12 months to the year... remember supply & demand... Just like was stated earlier... supplements or product update bulletin.. take it coming from a parts guy...
Why not call or email Edelbrock to find out for sure? Also, each call is essentially a "vote" to have the part produced.
Quote from Edelbrock: "Unfortunately they are currently on Engineering Hold. Check back from time to time."
I called them a few months ago trying to order a 573 because it was in the online catalog. The guy said it was not available yet and was very evasive about when if ever it would be available. Not to long after that the 553 and 573 manifolds disappeared from the online catalog.
That's correct - Give them a call ask about it, tell them you want it. It might take a while but they are in the business of making money- If they think it will make them some cash they'll make them. Thay are making the 3x2 for small blocks now. Which I think is pretty cool.
You guys are really *****ing about not being able to get repop Y-block manifolds?? Arent they some the most plentiful speed equipment out there??
Looks like Ford abandoned you first. They quit making the Y block. Just yanking your chain. I think 'Abandoned' is a little harsh. Edelbrock does more for us than most companies but they have to make a profit.
A friend of mine tried to order the 3X2 manifold for sbf (windsor), not yet available. He talked to Edelbrock people , they said the same thing. Dave
3 of them sold on ebay in the last month, there's one there now. I don't get the whole "repop old stuff" thing, I like actual old stuff....but that might just be me.
My thoughts exactly, I just bought a nice 573 with three stromberg 48 cores on ebay for $450. I see them all the time.
Well, if you can find an actual old part, are able to afford it and it is in usable condition, then that is awesome. However, if a certain type part gets physically scarce(through breakage or s****) or become unobtainable cash wise, that is where re-pops come in handy for the rest of us. -W
Exactly 573 manifolds are not that common and all too often guys who have them want too much money for them. I would much rather have a new repop than an old piece that has been through the mill and is not in good shape but still expensive. Drama ? , the only drama here was your .5 cents worth I'm not the only one who would like one of these new manifolds.
Do a goggle search on edelbrock 5412 - Summit has them listed as a custom order deal but they do give ship dates.
I just called Edelbrock and had a conversation with a gal at customer service. I gave her the info and part numbers as they had appeared in the Edelbrock 2011 catalog. 3 Deuce intake manifolds for the Y-Blocks, FM 553 (5410)for the 272-292 and FM 573 (5411) for the 312. She said her system said they were in engineering development so she called someone in the department. They told her that "They had decided they were not moving ahead with these manifolds". I told her that I was disappointed with that answer and that there were other enthusiasts of the Y Block engines who were (or would be) also disappointed. I asked her to give the feedback to the appropriate people that possibly they should re-think that position and consider bringing these manifolds to market. I told her that they (Edelbrock) make manifolds for other vintage engines, why not the Y Block as well. I told her there are plenty of enthusiasts of that engine in online forums who would like to see the manifolds back in production. If you also think that they should do so, call and add your voice. Call 310-781-2222 Maybe if enough people call they will reconsider. Edit, I also got a fellows name ( Rob Simons in Edelbrock R&D ) rsimons@edelbrock.com I'll be sending him a message telling him what I posted here and we will see what the response is. Maybe a few more e-mails should be sent too.
I talked to a Edelbrock rep at the GNRS in Pomona about it. He said Vic didn't want to do them because he didn't think they would sell. He mentioned that he also thought that about the FE stuff but there was enough push that he gave in and it ended up selling well. Hopefully they do start making em if enough people bug them about it. I'd buy one.
Well, I just heard from Rob Simons, his response is below. With this being said I don't think we should give up although it doesn't look like anything will happen. Enough people asking could make them change their minds. His reply : Thank you for your interest. Unfortunately, we were not able to justify the cost of engineering and tooling based on the projected sales of this item. The one you see pictured in the 2011 catalogue is actually an original Edelbrock manifold that we manufactured some years ago. The new proposed manifold was a reproduction of that part. You can still find the originals around at swap meets and on eBay sometimes. Unfortunately, that may be your best bet if you want that manifold. It was definitely premature of us to picture that in the 2011 catalogue. I apologize if it was misleading. Please let me know if there are any other questions I can answer for you. Regards, Robert Simons Edelbrock Corp.
I know that sources such as Branda Performance start a list and add your name to it. Didn't charge me a deposit but they needed x amount each time to justify another order. They are good at follow up and keeping you posted as to expected ship date. These are F.E. and Windsor intakes ect. I guess to sell them at a reasonable price the need to cast them in quan***y. Makes sense to me.
There was an 3-2 intake for sale on CraigsList-Atlanta a week or so ago. He had it listed as 'make an offer'.
Believe it or not, alloys are better today than they were in 1955 and manufacturers are always tweeking the tooling for better fit and finish.
