  1. Just read Ryans dad can I borrow the car" got me thinking of my out law days.
I started out driving my aunt's old ford pick up, then a 41 chev coupe. next was a 1959 NSU Prinz and a 1959 Triumph Bonneville. first year for dual carbs, one hot bike. next were a series of beaters while stationed in Guam (60-62) still had the bike when I came back to the states. sold it and bought a 56 ford. used to drive from the navy base in San Diego to Pasadena on weekends. before freeways made the 130 miles in less than 2 hours. started picking up 2-3 tickets a month. didn't slow down. had my license suspended for 30 days. got a ticket while suspended and they took it for 6 months, got two more tickets (can you say slow learner?) got fined $144 and revoked for 5 years. my pay at the time was $177 a month.

I didn't want to go to jail as promised by the judge. wasn't about to quit driving. it was a California life style. had a friend that had just turned 21 and didn't need his fake ID to get in bars. gave me a out of state drivers license and draft card. there were no photo's back then.

I got a drivers license and no more tickets. still drove crazy but started watching over my shoulder. picked my spots for street races. learned to drive fast without changing lanes. I still drive fast but haven't got a speeding ticket in 15 years.

I might hold the record for Paso Robles to Portland 906 miles in 11 1/2 hours.
now days the cars are faster and safer and the speed limits are still low. I consider myself LUCKY. almost anyone out there is SMARTER. anyone consider them selves as GOOD?

  5. crazy bastards should slow down. My brother drove straight thru Washington D.C. to L.A. California in 72 hours. He said what slowed down his time was getting a ticket coming into a small town in Texas. was told to Pay his fine as he went thru town. he figured he would be in New Mexico before they missed him. wrong they caught him leaving town and escorted him back and had to wait 3 hours for the judge that trippled his fine. another slow learner in my family

I drove from san diego (mexican border) to downtown Vancouver in 26 hours. But my longest drive was from san diego, to sacramento to reno then to black rock city for the burning man festival, i drove my 1966 chevy school bus. It took 31 hours to get there. The problem was the 6 girls wanting to stop every half tank of gas to take a piss. On the way back i had them pee in the sink and it tool 24 hours.
