heres a little short inspirational story for ya this is pretty much a follow up on my (model a barn find) thread. to make a long story short for those who havent read that thread, i had found a 30 coupe thats been sitting in a barn since 59, and the guy never planned on or wanted to sell it to anyone until I came along, and now hes letting me make payments on it. but here goes my story for the day...<o></o> <o></o> I went over to the guys house today to go pay on my coupe and the guy was thrilled and yet happy for me because im getting dang close. well he told me he had a guy come over the other day and try to buy the stock original seat outta MY coupe behind my back since its still at my buddies house. well my buddy was automatically offended that some 50 yr old guy tried pulling this mess on me being just turned 21 and being my first A. well the guy got fired up and starts saying all the kid is gonna do is street rod (yuck) it and put bucket seats in it anyways. when in fact its staying completely stock minus warming up the banger. so we was also discussing since the quarter panels was tack welded back on i was gonna remove them to put them back on straighter (they was removed bc it was a sawmill from the 40's - 50's) well the guy im getting the coupe from said he had the stuff to make another saw mill with it. so while the quarters are off im gonna put it back to saw mill condition and take some pictures since that how it spent much of its life. then we decided we will give the guy that wanted the car a picture of it and then my old buddy will tell him (hell the kid didnt street rod it he turned it back into a saw mill). that seems terribly funny to us anyways.<o></o> <o></o> and then the guy told me i could use any parts off his original/running/driving sedan to make my car run and just give his parts back when i can get my own. idk if ill do that but the fact he said that was awesome bc i had told him I wanted to take my grandpa whos in his 90's a ride in my coupe before he passes, bc we always talk about his families old cars they had through the 20 to 40. And then my buddy offered me to left me take my grandpa for a ride in his 30 4 dr A (my grandpas dad had a new 31 4 dr) so i think my grandpa would love to ride in one again.<o></o> <o></o> anyways im just too dang excited about all this, i told my mom about it and she was just upset i bought another old car so i needed to tell yall atleast yall would apprieate it. btw i almost got my coupe paid for!<o></o>

Good for you! Always go out of my way to hoodwink some elder fella that tries to walk over a kid. Can't wait 'til he sees the pictures! Two different buds of mine bought early Fords that were converted to sawmills... Terry B. found a '34 Vicky with no right rear fender or wheel, just a 14" pulley with a 3/4inch Vee belt driving a huge saw blade, 4 feet in diameter! It had been a saw since '56, this was 1959. Farmer said $65, 'cash on the barrelhead'. The fender and wheel were in the shed, car started right up and we threw wheel & fender on. I followed Terry 25 miles home! Another friend found a '29 Rdstr P/U the same way, off 280, 20 miles South of San Francisco. My friend traded the farmer straight across for his '46 Ford Fordor, and we removed the '46's fender and wheel for the farmer. Drove the Roadster Pickup home, too! (1960)
Its cool you almost got it paid off, I didnt understand any of the rest of the story, Except you aint going to hot rod it. Damn it, drunk again.
thanks everyone, definately gonna take the up the offer on borrowing the 4dr to take my grandpa for a spin and Atwater Mike, those are some dang good stories. id like to drive mine home but its hard to work out of others shop. but he dont live far away and he has a rollback
haha well its getting hot rodded by warming up the motor, removing some fenders and bumpers, and changing the rear banjo gears
Sawmill! Love it! It's great to see a young man with an interest in the past, and respect for it. Kudo's to you for your dreams, and yes, definitely take that ride. Also, kudo's to the seller for giving a young gun a chance!
My great grandfather was killed by one of those In 1930. They would jack the car up and hook one wheel to a saw blade some how. Well one night it was getting late and he had it wide open. The blade busted lose and went threw his head. My granpa is still alive today and it was his father. He was 3 at the time and he remembers him and his family putten wrags over the rest of his head because the chickens were eaten his brains. I do my best to pass on the storie because after hes gone. Im one of the few whos left that can pass on such a tragic story that he went threw. Im 25 now and its kinda cool that I spent my hole life with my grandpa and soaked up alot of the storys of how it was back then. We should all be paying attencion because when there gone we can only hear the stories from books. Listen to them old timers they seen a thing or two.
