Anyone know of a electric metal shear or nibbler that will actually chomp through 16 GA sheet and hold up? Something in the $200 range would be nice but I would spend more if it is worth it.
believe it or not the orange ones from horrible frieght will do it. mines been doing it off and on for 4 years. I have a witness too.
We ARE talking about 16GA here right? Because the last one from Harbor Freight I had didn't even last one project with 22ga! Then again the electric impact gun I bought there almost 5 ears ago is still going strong. Kinda hit and miss with that place.
So far what I am seeing is the shears are good up to 18ga but when you get into 16ga you are in nibbler land. Shears http://www.google.com/products/cata...a=X&ei=EaBFT-KiCoawiQKYkf30CA&ved=0CGoQ8wIwAQ Nibbler http://www.fishertools.com/product/...e=froogle&utm_medium=cse&utm_campaign=froogle
OOOOOHHHHHHH....... I'm not going to spend $600 on one but if I could!!!! http://www.emaxaction.com/trumpfc250plus.aspx http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E6QcmNdvDGA
He,he.. I borrowed a Bosch oil fed nibbler about 30 years ago to make .120" boxing plates...wow, I don't recall the max capacity, but it cut the 1/8" like paper.
I really, really, really like the Milwaukee power shears. They're built in such a way that you can clearly see your scribe line while cutting, and make very sharp turns when needed. I was super lucky to find a good used 6815 on Ebay a few years ago for about $75 to my door. I sharpened the blades, and this thing has never given me a bit of trouble. It cuts through 18 gauge like ****er. Never tried it on thicker stuff, but the 6815 is supposed to be rated to 14 gauge:
Did a bunch of research and I ended up getting these for $200 off ebay buy it now with free sipping. You can still get new blades for $20, it should be perfect for me! http://www.ebay.com/itm/16074215171...NX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649#ht_486wt_1158
I'm lucky, I got a nice Bosch for free when I bought other stuff from a friend, but I'm not sure of it's gauge capacity at the moment. Can't beat the price and it's in awesome shape and of course it works... EDIT: DEF. not for 10-12 gauge, mine is probably for 18 just by looking at it...
i too use the power shears i also concur with the visibility. you can see where your cutting... depending on the beer consumption
That ecaxaction sight has some crazy stuff. How about a 1" drive torque wrench with a 10' handle that goes to 2000 foot pounds! That is seriously tight!
